I think it would it would increase teamwork if some of the sellplaces of mineable comodities are removed, take for instance Niobium at Java. Now miners could just drop off the ore at Java and Traders can buy it there, but if the lowest buy prices would be made higher (keeping the rest of the trade balance) it would be more profitable to mine it and than get someone else to ship it to a selling location.
so you want to ruin any miner that doesnt have some buddy to haul the stuff 15 systems to a place where it actually sells for more than the dirt on your shoes?
Yeah I think the last thing mining needs is another nerf. After a glimmer of hope, it's basically just as rubbish as it was in .84 now, not even close to half the profitability of trading in a decent-sized ship.
no I didn't mean a nerf, I meant it to not be sold for instance at Java, so some very profitable runs are only possible by the help of some Miners, they have to give/sell you the ore that you can sell for a very good price.
He wants miners trading with the..traders instead of the miner going to the station, selling it all off and the trader coming along and buying from the station.
I like the idea, if it's implementable, but it sounds like it could be very restrictive. I mean, it is hard to arrange for everyone to be around at once.
I've noticed that when you sell something, it appears on the other side to be purchased. Maybe it could just remember all the niobium or whatever being sold at the base by the miners, and store it for sale, and if that runs out, then traders are out of luck or have to deal direct with the miners. It's more along the lines of what was said, but would also provide a safety net for when all the miners are sleeping.
The problem is that, seeing as the relatively mediocre profits gained by mining and the relatively small number of miners, it's not so hard to believe that there wouldn't be anybody mining anywhere near Java at any given time.
Especially if you're a the kind of person that enjoys trading at night, when some of the pirates are sleeping. And most of the miners, for that matter.
I personally enjoy mining, this sounds too hard to implement. Ever mined Diamonds in Dresden? Never a trader in sight, your stuck selling them for about 500 each at Bautzen.
The commodities you sell are "stored" on the buy side only for that session of the commodity trade window. If you go to the bar and then go back to the commodity trader, they are gone.
