' Wrote:It would still piss off Gaian extremists. Plus, they terraform planets too. I doubt its all horticulture. And didn't Samura used to trade with Planetform before the war?
Hmmm, your right. If gaians are trying to preserve all things natural your still introducing a foreign specie into the natural environment. One thats designed to flourish, and we all know how that throws off the entire food chain.
As for the terraforming of, what was it, junyo? That was again done using alien organisms who's natural by-product was useful in changing the conditions of the planet (From Kurile I believe).
Now- I'm going to use a sentance I hate people using but: The way samura has undergone their planet change is through "natural" methods using plants and "animals" without introducing an array of "chemicals". *Shudders* Edit: Which is a whole lot better than was most planetform companies are doing, but at the same time a lesser of two evils is still evil.

We're more of outright terrorists, though, we do only hurt things which we percieve as a direct threat, such as Synth Foods plantations, and ALG convoys. In fact, I'd see the LWB as the closest thing to the Gaians in terms of vanilla similarity...
' Wrote:The LWB are murdering terrorists, often targetting people simply due to their nationality. That isn't straight activism. That's like saying a modern terrorism is legit political activity.
Erm, wait, what? The LWB doesn't target people because of nationality. They target people because of their relations to Synth Foods and Stuttgart. Where did you get the idea that we target people on nationality?
' Wrote:Also: Why would Gaians ally with Farmer's Alliance because of Synth Foods? Since when do Gaians care about Synth Foods? The Bretonian Government are the ones that don't want Synth Foods in Bretonia.

' Wrote:Oooh! I've wanted to say this forever!
The Gaians wouldn't like Synth Foods for one simple reason: They have destroyed the natural ecosystem of Planet Stuttgart. Many of the old farms are now failing because of the terraforming gases and heavy fertilizers pumped into the planet. The atmosphere is no longer the same combustible, firestorm-waiting-to-happen furball it once was and the ground is no longer the same composition it was. I do think a group of Cambridge Scientists would find out about this eventually, and be appalled...
If the Gaians heard about other things Synth was doing, well, it isn't a farther stretch than Mollys meeting Hessians...

Was more of an observation than anything else, as the Gaians seem to be hard chargers over leaving everything in a natural state.
Of course if they're cool with their buddies nuking a planet's biosphere into oblivion they're probably cool with some crops employing some jumbled DNA in order to dominate the growing scene.
Edit: As to Stuttgart, wasn't that primarily because Synthfoods was being totally callous in regards to observing the proper care and upkeep of the local ecology in favor of expediency in synthcrop growth? I was of the opinion one could grow synthplants without turning the environment on its head but they chose to go ahead and be reckless due to playing with someone else's sandbox.

Does it really matter the reason in the end, though? Synth Foods destroyed an ecosystem. That's what matters. They did it, and haven't made any moves to fix it, but, instead, are continuing to amplify it.

Do the Government and its outlaws really need to disagree on everything? They can have a mutual disdain for Synth Foods, can't they?

But why does this make them want to ally with Farmers, for instance?
Also, LWB are out-of-work farmers tat want their industry back. The Gaians didn't lose their jobs. They were a part of the educated, wealthy elite, that decided to go terrorist for their beliefs. Big difference. Compare them to Bundschuh instead.
' Wrote:Maybe I'm biased because I'm a chemist, and the entire "natural" food arguments bug me- but genetic engineering could be as simple as cross-breading two plants. The breading of let's say a rice crop with another plant that naturally endures the harsh conditions of kyushu in order to make a "super rice crop" that is able to grow on kyushu. That is how I saw the so called "OMG SCIENTISTS GENETIC ENGINEERING THE CROPS WILL COME ALIVE AND EAT US! WE ARE NOW THE FOOD TO MY FOOD! CALL THE KNF OUT OF LEEDS!"
Genetic engineering isn't always exactly the "I'm adding this nucleotide here, in order for it to grow an extra arm"
Yep, all the main foods, vegetable and animal, we eat regularly, are completely changed from how they occurred naturally. Humanity has been 'genetically engineering' them for a good 7000 years plus. There's obvious and silly examples, like the dutch making carrots orange a couple of hundred years ago, but everything has basically been made much huger by us, from pigs and cows down to beans and wheat.
As for the Gaians-Synthfoods thing, the way I see it, they would totally hate synth foods, but they'd hate all other farming too. Synth Foods on Stuttgart are enjoying the fun that american corps enjoy in the third world today, and happened on Leeds in game - totally unregulated. Corporations inherently ruin this sort of thing when no one's around to stop them.

Word up. Was just sayin is all.
But Synthfoods has zero presence in Bretonia so the point is kinda moot. Due to the blokes on Cambridge knowing how to till them some soil.
Heck, synthfoods technically has zero presence in Kusari as well. The kids just like like them some synthpaste as opposed to yet another bowl of Samura brand happyfuntime rice product.
' Wrote:What. Because you thought it, it becomes true?
They shoot more than Synth Foods, and will likely be opposed to foreign influence in a similar manner to the Xenos and Farmer's Alliance. It only makes sense.
