Balance is so hard eh
To kill a bomber:
Get behind it. Fighters are agile enough.
At any rate, it will cause both fighters and bombers to use energy with the missiles; bombers just won't use it as quickly.
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.
Still don't see what the issue is. Whenever I come up against a missile spammer, I play defensive. He can barely get any shots in, and he's out of ammo before you know it. If I have a CD, he doesn't get anything done. Hard to counter one? It's near just as easy.
Just the other day another player and I went up against two fighters, two bombers, and gunboat with our two bombers. Half of the small ships spammed missiles, as well as one having a steady Starkiller hand, and I didn't even have a CD. I got a little roughed up, but by the time we cleaned them all out, I still had half bots left with my low armor bomber.
Honestly, I'm loving them right now, even when I'm fighting against them. A change is unnecessary, just adapt your tactic mid-battle to counter their use.
not for all fighters/bombers, but that's not really the point. Just, if you make missiles take energy, it nerfs fighters using missiles but not bombers using missiles.

Then we'll make it so every fighter/bomber can only mount up to two missiles by making missiles a separate class and only having up to two or three hybrid slots per ship.

@Orin: The problem isn't really with missile spammers. A player who uses it sparingly in the right moment to take a large extra chunk of your hull is much more of a problem. Even a CD wouldn't protect you. The problem is, that fighters are almost always better off with a missile in place of a gun on one slot.
About missiles taking energy. They are usually an alternative to energy-based weapons to conserve power. This would change the use a lot.
I dont see an issue with missiles at the moment, a little experience and they can be countered, If you have a CD it is easier but its not the only way. I quite like how it is at the moment, no more vanilla weakness is great.
' Wrote:As for bombers...well, I think we should drop the class 10 gun slots, anyways, possibly replacing em with another torp slot, but, yeah, missiles on bombers overcome it's weakness against fighters, which seems wrong...
Quick fix: replace the gun slots with turret slots. Of course, then you run into the problem of not being able to mount codes, etc. Then again, there's the ever-popular class 6 turret slots...

HOWEVER, there's no chance in hell that is the same now. Something changed it, as they are MUCH more difficult to dodge. This thread is mainly about cannonballs and paralyzers, and their tracking abilities.
I have to agree on this count. CBs seem waaay more agile than before. I swear I've done 90+ turns and still had them hit me sometimes.
No, I'm hardly ignoring that point. I've been in just as many battles involving that, and quite honestly, missile spamming is far more dangerous if you don't have a CD. With a CD, no problems whatsoever.
Either way, as I said, it's completely manageable. With CBs, I've never gotten hit with one while I dedicate my tactics to evasive.
Why must people cry about missiles all the bloody time?
I dont see 20 topics (in the last month) started about how bad code weapons are, but heaven forbid people EVER use missiles!
Simple put: if your willing to sacrifice a gun for a limited shot weapon like missiles, then you bloody well hope it does more damage than a energy gun.
