Actually, to my perspective, they never used it as the argument as to why their equipment is stronger, but if anyone mentioned it they mentioned it as to prevent people speaking about everything having to be in perfect balance, everything being equal, etc.
The argument of it all is the Nomad Lore + Vanilla SP Lore.
But I'm not omniscient (Yes, it's true!), so I won't say that I'm 100% sure this is the case.

Point of the matter is, nomad ships were 'balanced' (I use the term loosely), to be used without missiles. Now add missiles into the equation (even if they're the same as everyone else's), and the fact that missiles are a bit too ouchy at the moment, gives for a very very good set of ships/equipment available to Keepers.
Nomad ships were balanced to be used without missiles. They now have missiles. Doesn't that mean the ships need readjusting?

That sounds sensible to me. If they were balanced with that in mind, they should be reconsidered. Of course, I suggest missiles are relooked at first, so as to not have to do it twice.
Also, it's a nice change to see a thought in this thread that didn't sound flame-tastic.

See below.
Quote:Some gear has damage that's higher by a bit, in turn we get every person on the server on our tails as soon as we log on. Long time enemies in game suddenly reconcile and work together when there's a Keeper about. I was chased today by 2 carriers and 3 gunboats and I was alone in my bomber. So yeah...perhaps its a bit elitist but I believe we do deserve a break in terms of a gun that can do 5% more damage than normal ones.

And this is where exactly I disagree with. We can't have everything identical toe to toe but we still need to have an understanding of balance. The two must be seperated from each other. Most of the people have raised concerns about the overall balance here by the way. I haven't seen anyone yet requesting identical stats. And I don't know where you got that impression from either. Or perhaps trying to be realistic means trying to restrict all guns with identical stats according to you, who knows.

Great sarcasm in your last sentence, though it needs a bit more punch.
And, Kress, from my intake people generally go and moan whenever someone's got it better than them.
Heck, look, did you ever see me whining cause Krakens beat Vampires? No. Cause it actually does make sense.
And that's my whole point.
It's not about the current state of balance cause I know little about that. What I do know, is that to me it is perfectly justifiable and makes sense in RP AND balance-wise that Nomad ships and equipment are *slightly* more powerful.

Nobody have had a problem with a slight buff as both Phantoms and Keepers already obtained them without much hassle and resistance, didn't they?
But depending on being overwhelmed, I could ask for a buff on the Unioner guns for example as we are barely able to summon 3 or 4 people at the same time and so are some factions, while we are still able to maintain a level of satisfaction with our inferior guns. Heck, even Xeno guns beat ours in stats.
I hope you see that I'm not trying to bring it to, your guns, our guns stuff. And the original discussion was about the Nomad NPCs outside of guard systems those mount SW and excessive Train CDs. We have sufficiently strayed off of the original case already, which was perhaps required at some points.

Actually they did. If you recall the thread about Phantoms that was quite the popular little thing back then.

As I said, my primary reason of supporting buffs for Nomad *player* weapons is RP. Not the overwhelming anti-Nomad force.
The overwhelmed thing is just an eliminator of whining in this case, for me at least.
I said it just to prevent some people from whining how Keepers're gonna go around Sirius raping everything.
Also, Xeno guns are actually some of the better weapons in the game. But that's beside the point.

I know you're not.
And as for the NPCs, yeah, feel free to balance them however is wished. Though keeping them somewhat more powerful than standard high level NPCs should be logical.

All i see here is people moaning...
Sure Keepers have better gear...
So does KNF over GC...
so Does the RM over the LWB...
We can go on for ages, the fact is there always will be people moaning about one thing or another.
Oh and id love to know... how often do you actually meet a keeper ingame?
Oh and so you know im biased.
But so is Mjonir, Kress, Exile... heck... just about anyone who is complaining/defending.
Now go and enjoy playing the game for what its designed for.
Edit: About the npcs, the nomad ones should have train cd's in the guard systems only in my opinion along with missiles... but the encounters are that rare... that i dont think it makes much of a difference...
( only met 2 spawns of npcs of nomads since the release of 4.85 beta)

Now going under the gaming name: Seraxia www.twitter.com/Seraxia
Now that that picture there got your attention, here's my two Teef.
Firstley: I don't believe you can start a discussion over godforsaken NPCs.
Non-Player-Characters.
Not the thing you play, not the thing your buddy plays, not the thing everyone else here plays.
Just some bloody code. CODE. Stuff you can't directly touch with your hands, stuff you can't lick with your tongue, stuff you can't smell.
Yup, clearer? Makes more sense now? Uh huh. Moving on.
Secondley: Let's face it, this whole Nomad / Keeper thing, it's not about missiles or the NPCs in the first place. Maybe for a few, but not for the most. In truth, this whole show's about some people's envy, hatred, stuff like that.
Now I'm looking at y'all, and wondering, are you even here to play this game?
Are you here to roleplay?
Or are you here for this beautiful drama I lately see on the forums so often, to show a fraction of this space potato's population what a manly badass beast you are?
Personally, I'm here to play the game.
Thirdley: To those who aren't so extremely focused at their holy crusades and epic quests for intertube victory, did any of you ever bloody consider of looking at the big picture?
Did any of you maybe just even think of seeing le grande scheme of this whole Community, Server, whatever, instead of being so nitpicky about tiny little things like this thing here?
Oh wait, you propably did, until you got afraid of the big picture proving you wrong and making you look like a doltnugget.
Let me remind you now that consequences on the intertubes matter very little IRL. Atleast consequences of your actions here. If they have too big of an impact, you might consider taking a BREAK.
Fourthley: Instead of arguing here over every little thing you could spend time CONSTRUCTIVELY by having side A make a proposal for how things should be in their opinion and side B making one aswell.
Then try both out, see what works, what doesn't, reach a conclusion. Voila, done is le delicious cake of awesome and everyone can be merry again.
Fifthley: I see trash like this and worse popping up everywhere. Skype conversations, thousands of them. Forum threads, whatever. Things like those pop up all the time.
And people scream and yell and whine and b*tch at eachother just to further their own goals so they, I said that above already, can be the big damn hero.
Tell you what, it doesn't matter. Nobody will ever be perfectly happy here.
All you ALL can do is work together, instead of flaming eachother and behaving like morons.
Sixthley: To those that bash / flame / and cry about the Keepers, here's something for you:
If you don't like it, or hate it, or whatever, and actually want to change how it's handled, guess what?
Shut your piehole and do it BETTER instead of making yourself out to be more important than you are with your moaning and attempts at regulating some other people's creation.
Seventhley: To those that have the possibilities to atleast try to put an end to this in general, do it.
Show that you got los cojones. You can grow a beard for a reason.
Eightley: I hope some ten thousand imaginary fire gnats infest your collective crotch. Have a nice day.
Agreed with Ench. But fighting tougher enemies compels X faction to improve their weaponry. It's how war works.
Also, you stole my trademark, jerk.
