' Wrote:Ok, last night, while as a [Phantom] in kusari I had FireBlade try pirating me without ever seeing him.
Even after I explained to him, about who and what the [Phantom]s are, he continued to try.
So this is for all the players who pirate to read, little hints and points to remember so that you, and your targets, can have fun without flaming each other here on the forums or ingame.
if you can't be bothered/don't want to read it, thats up to you.
1) Pirates DO NOT pirate other pirates/terrorists.
2) You can only pirate when you have a Freelancer, Liberty Rogue, Lane Hacker, Outcast, Corsair, Molly, GC, Blood Dragon, Unioner, Brunschuh, LWB, Junker, Farmers Alliance or Hogosha IDs.
(pretty sure thats all the IDs that allow pirating, PM if I missed any)
3) Currently the only terrorist ID is Xeno, on this server 'terrorist' means you can shoot anyone and everyone, as long as you abide by the server rules in doing so.
However, if you don't have a Xeno ID you have to warn, or try to pirate, everyone before you shoot them.
Also, a Xeno ID'd player HAS to try to pirate, or warn, anyone with a Freelancer, Neutral, Zoner or IMG ID, instead of just shooting. This is because of the Xeno NPC faction rep.
4) If a Player has an ID which is listed as hostile to your ID, you'll find the info in the faction infocards, then you can shoot without pirating, however, you still have to warn them first.
eg: A corsair ID'd player comes across a hessian ID'd player, either of you can warn and then engage.
Or
An outcast ID'd player finds a navy ID'd player, again, either may warn and then engage.
5) Until/unless igiss alters any other IDs to be terrorist you still have to warn people before you shoot them.
6) Pirating in anything bigger then a gunboat is against the rules, you'll find it in the ID infocard, Pirating is classed as asking for money or cargo to let a ship go by safely.
So, if you disagree with anything I've posted, say so, but do it politely and state your reasons.
If you think this is complete and utter rubbish and wish to continue shooting everything in sight without having/getting a Xeno ID, then your on the wrong server, go find a PvP one, cos this isn't one.
Thank you marauder for giving me better pointers. Also I'll say HALT! 2MILL NOW! like Korrd said saves me some time if you know what I mean.
Another thing that bits is that I just up grade my gunboat to a Corsairs G/N . so now I cant hit traders. will then I guss I'll have to hit bigger targets :(
Good points.... the thing about firing a CD is moot anyway, since it is largely ineffective against a train (unless I missed something in my absence:sleep:).
@Flurry: Dude we told you this before! That's why you downgraded your cruiser for a gunboat in the first place, remember?
Marauder, although your post was made with good intentions, you are wrong on a couple points.

Actually, yes they do. Nowhere in the vanilla storyline does it set the precident that there is a "pirate alliance" or a "pirate code of honor". Having said that.... lets look at the proof to support this.....
When you kill Xenos, look what happens to your reps.... Pretty much all of your "criminal" reputations go up. When you kill Hessians, your Corsair reps go up. When you kill Corsair your Outcast reps go up. Furthermore, look at the "criminal" faction infocards. Look under enemies. :rtfm:As you can see, there are many criminal organizations, who are at odds with eachother, and well.... all of them are at odds with the Xenos.;)
Now what does this lead us to conclude??? One could reasonably assume, that if they are at odds, they are viable targets for piracy and destruction.
' Wrote:However, if you don't have a Xeno ID you have to warn, or try to pirate, everyone before you shoot them.
Actually you technically DONT HAVE to warn... (IF it they have a tag that would be hostile to your faction.) But one must be wise in this... it is generally consided POOR GAMING ETTIQUITE to suckerpunch people, and I dont belive in shooting without a warning as a personal preference

How are you coming to this assumption??? You CAN shoot anyone who is flying a flag hostile to your faction WITHOUT WARNING, and still bewithin the guidelines set by the vanilla faction repset. The"warning" is a gamers COURTESY extended to others to promote a healthier playing environment.
Forsaken
P.S. I just realized this was posted in the "in character" section of the forums.... why didnt you post this in an "Out of Character" section. :nono:
Up to now nothing has been stated about warnigs. Thus we can ask for an amendment but unless it will be included in the server rules, anybody can shoot at will without any warning. This behaviour is a violation of courtesy and might be bad role-playing but up to now it's not a violation of server rules. At least I've found nowhere a rule about warnings in PvP; If anybody knows were a rule about warnings is stated, please give me the link.

Yes, the only time you must warn a ship with a hostile tag is when you intend to pirate. If you were forced to make demands before shooting, then the pirate's capships themselves would be contradictory to the rules of no capship pirating. Thererfor, you warn anyone your pirating or those with no tag/neutral/friendly and/or Freelancer/Neutral ID.

You can pirate also the dropouts of a destroied ship. I don't see why you should warn anybody if you're going to pirate them. The same apply to lawfull factions: nothing is stated in server rules thus lawfull factions can shoot at will without warning to anything red in their hud. It's not a violation of server rules.

The list I did in my first post is so that you don't get flamed, ok?
I've done things by the rules, In Character and totally in RP before and got flamed for it.
So I did this list so other people wouldn't get flamed for what they should be doing.
I've shot at people cos their red in my HUD, then got flamed for it because apparently it was MY fault that a lawful character with the proper lawful rep has the junkers show up as hostile.
I know what the rules say, I've read them often enough. However, a little warning would help when 3 overpowered bombers come along shooting at your trader, don't you agree?
If you don't like what I posted fine, but stop having a go at me and start having a go at all the people that made that list needed, the ones who don't RP, who bitch and moan whenever their lvl 70+ trader dies.
In future I'll remember not to bother trying to help anyone.
