I believe that is the purpose and function of the forward gun. It is not designed for killing ships lesser than a Battleship, or maybe Battlecruiser. If the gun is, according to you, "Very useful" for killing battleships, then its' purpose is served without being imbalanced and able to be used for a purpose not intended (i.e. SNACing fighters in a bomber)
By that conclusion, the gun does not need a buff.

I have cruiser and fighting caps is hard ... i still practice shooting with forward gun ...but almost any other cruiser with mortar can kill me ...why? ... because they aim mortar 1000 times easier .. i have to turn whole damn cruiser around to hit him and he can place couple of hits until i turn around ...

i think forward should get much higher damage then light mortar... light mortar does same amount of damage but it can aim in every direction and forward gun ...

i don't know whats energy usage of those guns but i don't think its much different

this is cool signature

Siege Cruiser has a buffed reverse. Reverse/strafe to point away from target, thrust, reverse/strafe to face target, unload on target reversing the whole time, until they get in range, then repeat. Seems a logical tactic to me, and it tends to work if you spend your time figuring out how to use the thing rather than making nerf/buff threads because you're too lazy to bother.

For the Core.

Or if you're too lazy to bother, you could always just mount a Light Mortar as well. They are a free-for-all weapon, after all. Meaning anyone can use it. The forward cannon is designed to hit larger capital ships, and the mortar is designed for hitting cruisers and gunboats. Both weapons have completely separate rolls.

Lib cruiser forward gun has higher speed, same/similar range and less energy use, and people arguing that it sucks in comparison to light mortar...

Looks like a clear case of people arguing about stats without taking the time to actually take a look at the stats for themselves..

Look at stats first before you run your mouth about non-existent problems please.

Of course the liberty cruiser does suffer some tracking disadvantages to the LM.

maybe the cruiser could get two things.

1: a new cockpit design, with there being a targeting recticle on the cockpit glass.
2: a slight turning boost.

Well... Ive used it once. Didn't really like it. I ended up turning the forward gun off most of the time.

But I love forward guns. Just for the fireworks.

I say lower the speed, up the damage. Or Up the speed and up the refire rate, with a slightly increased overall damage.

Good idea.

A big NO from me. It's already one of the most agile.

Nothing prevents you from mounting both.
