Yep, you might prefer to convert your name into proper French. It might be detrimental to your image to make the Vigrant Colonial Raiders' errors, after all...
Quote:The logic in that is strange. The argument goes like this:
They'll lend us a Cruiser, therefore they'll give us men and supplies as well.
Well, I think of it like this:
If they're giving away one of their most valuable assets, it'll probably been some joint operation. The US wouldn't give away an aircraft carrier without putting their guys on it to keep tabs on the rent-ees, so I don't see why a bajillion years later they'd do anything equivalent. Besides that, if they have some people on it (I never said man then entire ship and take orders from the Brigands) if those people get a message saying, "Yo! We need you over here!" then they could keep control of their assets better than, "Umm... Hey, Brigandish types. Could you, y'know, help us out? I know its alot to ask but umm... We're kind of not winning. We gave you the ship! We could be even after this!"
Supplies are a different matter. I think that if the Council is at least steady enough to own a planet, and they're on good enough terms to give them a cruiser in the first place, they'd probably spring for at least some of the supplies. They know the Brigands aren't wealthy, so I refer back to my hobo-sandwich analogy.
-Edit- (First paragraph) Not to mention that somebody has to fly the cruiser over, and I doubt the Council would get a skeleton crew to float it over to a Brigand base and then go, "Okay guys, we're on the next shuttle outta here! See you later!"
Yeah but why would they give you the cruiser when all you do is antagonise them and refuse their requests not to pirate in their territory. That's like the RM giving the Hessians a battleship because they both fight against Liberty and the Corsairs.

This is a valid point, even if the analogy is a bit exaggerated. It's more like the US Navy giving the French Navy one of their ships. Even thought they're allied and the US could keep people on it to make sure it doesn't shoot them, they aren't the happiest of happy friendly allies and more importantly... what is the incentive for the US to do it in the first place? Just because it's feasible doesn't mean it gets done. I could, technically speaking, get up and walk to Walgreens right now, pick up a soda, and walk back (half hour round trip). But there's a vending machine downstairs. Why would the Council give you a cruiser for the purpose of helping fight the Royal Navy when they could just fight the Royal Navy with it?
For people to hand someone else their technology/ships, two things need to happen. One, they need to be friendly enough to consider negotiations and whatnot. From what I've read, you may have to look closely at the relationship between Les Vampirs and the Council... it would appear they don't like you a whole lot, even if they tolerate you and fly alongside you here and there. Two, there needs to be a good reason for them to do so. "Because the other guy doesn't have any" is not a good reason. "Because they're our very good friends, need it for their own protection, and paid for it" is a whole lot better.
Since the core Gallic systems have not been released, you can't really write a backstory. We've established that. However, what you need isn't a backstory- they help, but they are never really necessary (except for diplomatic quirks and whatnot). What you need, first and foremost, is a purpose. It's pretty much the same thing with the cruiser situation- you don't need a logistical explanation, you need a 'why'. If you can't go too much into why Les Vampirs started doing what they do, go into why they continue doing it. That should provide the basis for specifics about how to go about your everyday business. Are you a bunch of Robin Hood characters? If so, who do you support? The poor everywhere, or just the Gallic poor? What qualifies as "poor"?
Go about your questions like that, and you're more likely to come up with something that both gives you enough information to play with and doesn't provide many opportunities for unreleased RP to screw with you. It's still possible you'll have to thoroughly rework your faction when 4.86 comes around, but if you write purpose rather than history, it's a lot less likely- and if you do have to rework things, it will probably be less work.
What I was trying to bring up in the argument, Magoo, was that you assumed they will be given a Cruiser, and used it to prove they will be given a cruiser.
You should have quoted me like that:

And this proves that the Cruiser will be lent ?
I don't want to repeat myself fully, but I'll say it in short. Giving out a Cruiser only would be extreme, giving it with valuable crew and supplies would seem out of the question.
Your US-France comparison isn't very accurate. If you added US being in a losing war, defending their homeland and being desperate for every vessel and man they can get, you would come a little closer.
I don't like how the Les Vampirs are handling their Cruiser, if it means travelling through Bretonia. If you get such ship, act responsibly. I wouldn't expect to find you going through Leeds Trade Lanes.

Fool I was setting up the Cruiser there were a few guns I had to pick from a Dealer, Next time in syschat if you see me in a system that is not brigand turf ask me '' Hey WT* you doing out Here!?!?!'' and Ill say ''Im setting up Char Mind you GodDamn Business'' that way youll be well informed on why im there, then you wont need to bring up useless Facts in this Thread where your intentions are to Clearly start a Flame Against me you Jerk.
I can't imagine any reason that would justify your presence there.
You need guns from a dealer? Get a ferry to bring them. Don't take the Cruiser to places it has no place to be in. Setting up isn't a license to ignore RP (apart from the poor civilian Starflier moving to its starting point usually).
Whatever! Setting up char is a one time Thing, Do We care for your Opinion no. go Grace another Thread, or better go out and get some sun. All Freelancer and No Tan makes Marvin a very dull man.
