' Wrote:To answer that , I will start with this - Official faction which are meant to become the player base of an already existing NPC faction , follow 90% of the accepted role play for that faction. They simply construct a story line to fill in the gaps which are left from SP and create official standings with other factions. Every player must try to do that , even on a personal level. What I mean to say is , that if I had a BAF Dunkirk , before BAF was formed , I really wouldn't be doing something different from what the BAF| are trying to do in RP and in daily activities. If I'm doing something different , then I'm probably doing it wrong. However , exceptions do exist , I believe , and for that the player faction very often listens to what they have to say. A very shining example is the leadership of the Gaian faction , under the command of Marburg. Have you noticed the "Recognized independants" section there ? Or the Order ? No one wants to ruin the fun for someone else , that's not a goal at all for faction leaders.
I believe you have/had an Outcasts character. If that is true , then you have , without a doubt "reaped" from the hard work , labour and imagination of no other then Eppy. The 101st own Omicron-85 and I dare say , it's one of the most beautiful and interesting systems in Discovery. If you have been there and enjoyed the view , the you should wonder who to thank for that experience.
Right. So, in essence, what you are trying to say is, you will not bow down to a person who has been here before you, unless it follows what you believe RP to be. Yes, I would say that pretty much covers the answer to my question.
I have OC characters. I should thank Eppy for the view of a publicly available mod on a public server? Are you serious? (Nothing against the person who made the system, but that is hardly "reaping" anything from the faction. Anything else that I reap from factions?)
' Wrote:Ahha , now I understand.
To that question , I will have to answer with "no". My personal opinion is such. Players which have not tried to create a faction of their own and fight for it's rights and so forth , should not have authority over those who have. Again , my personal opinion and it is a subject to change.
appreciate the honesty - and i should probably apologize to squeeze it out of you ( you just happened to be be the next best target to aim that question at:P)
but it also sums up the concerns. we agree with something that we won t like executed on ourselves. - the justification for that is .... well.... not really plausible.
making a faction is easy. - running a faction on a high quality level is not so easy. - but we don t really have a quality control that checks a faction regularly - except for voluntary feedbacks.
what happens is that it creates a "we" and a "you" when there should be an "us". that development is inevitable. i don t say that there is an "us" at this time without the granted powers - BUT - there is like no way to create an "us" with the granted powers.
but a "we" and a "them" creates at least two playerqualities, probably more. we deserve, them do not deserve. ... battleships, enforcing laws, fly in specific parts of sirius - the list can become longer.
furthermore - not even factions itself are equal. - there are factions that are near untouchable by any critizism and some factions that are much more in the focus of critizism. - some are totally unthinkable to be removed / replaced, others could easily vanish.
I know this is off topic, but you people are hillarious, every single one of you, apart from a certain few individuals here that tried not to talk much, seems to be lacking the intellect required for a reasonable debate. Seeing as you all miss the entire point the other is making and then proceed to answer based on your presumptions instead of on the thing the other person is talking about. Again, sorry for being off topic, but if you're too dumb to understand debating, perhaps you shouldn't debate?

i m sorry, but what point are you getting to? - i guess i m one of the dumb people that miss the point. - its a bit vexing to see someone make fun in such an insulting way over people that are presented with a situation and try to gather the reasons and justifications for it - while also expressing their concerns.
on the other side they are trying to justify the beneficial nature of the changes and trying to provide conficdence and trust.
how is that the hilarious talk of dumb [dogs of the female persuasion]. i haven t seen a single post in the entire thread that was really doing such a low blow as yours - actually, they were all civilized so far.
I do not agree with the idea of battleships being restricted to faction-approved indies, for the reasons stated by Nooblet, Xoria, Jinx and others regarding faction leaders and restricting roleplay and fair game play for independents.
There are good and bad independent players - but there are also good and bad faction players. Please remember that.
Thanks for saving my time and summing up the backlogs, Titan.
What I'm interested in knowing is how far the underlings of a faction (i.e. not the top two ranks) can go regarding Independent Capitals with the permission of their leaders for example with the Liberty Capital Registry and Outcast Registry, if they still have theirs. Also, this seems like a buttload of extra work for the Admins if I am understanding it.

Feel free to inform me of any points I have missed and what presumptions I am making, if you believe I am engaging in such actions.

You actually make a good point quite often. As for being a low blow, I don't care much, people not understanding each other and just making the same point with different wording while ignoring the point the other makes..won't move forward. So what's the point in talking about it if all you achieve is status quo? A civilized discussion is overrated, again, when it doesn't move anywhere. I can insult people in a civilized way too if you'd prefer that, but it won't change the fact that they won't move forward without the willingness to compromise. As for the original idea, I'm all for it, I don't lead any factions, aside being in the high command of the Keepers, and it wouldn't affect us anyway so..not biased here. As for it being beneficial or not, you won't figure that out by debating points that can't be proven without actually testing it. Someone suggested here that it is implemented as a trial period for now, and I think that would be the best idea. Test it out, see how it goes, if its good then stick with it, and if its bad, dump it. Sure some people might get snipped and lose some cash with that option if it fails, but you won't really make any progress otherwise.
Edit:

Just reread your last post before this, and think hard.
I got to page 8 and then stopped reading. Xoria is right here. This really should not come into force. It's granting a carte blanche dictatorship. Not something I ever want to see in anyones hands, other than an admin.
Edit: Just got to Dieters post (98 or 97). Good. As long as there is a guaranteed way for any player to appeal against a denial, my worries are lessened. But it has to be guaranteed to be looked at within a reasonable time scale.
Edit 2: And now Virus post. Yes, that is a way forward I can wholly endorse.
Reading this whole topic is nearly impossible for me and when reading the last comments, it feels unessecary anyway. I wont miss much.
This step would go into the right direction, but every official faction should be in close contact with the Admin team.
Every single player should be allowed to obtain a Battleship class vessel.
In this case it means, that every guy or girl can post his RP-post/application for a Battleship, without cut and dried opinions.
Those applications need to be attention handeled in a way, without emotions and hate from past events.
The leader plane of a faction has to discuss each application and story in a reasonable way.
It could also be more paperwork for the Admins and the Leaders, if an application got accepted because the applicant wrote a good story and seemed to be an overall good guy. But suddenly he turned out to be one of the bad ones. His case needs revision, SS-proof and and and....
This whole "Give the factions more power" is a "Give the faction leaders more power" and will require a LOT of trust from the community.
I say trust the leaders, but come down hard on them, if they abuse their power.
Cutting down the lolwut baltteships could improve the server gameplay a bit, but there will still be the lolwutting Gunboats and Cruisers.
But hey, they can be dealt with more easily.
Enforcing certain faction rules towards independent players is already in place. The code of conduct of a house or faction is counting for everyone and so is the diplomatic situation. Players doing their own thing and ruining a faction are already recieving their own special boot.
