its like when my friend weedalot got banned from the server for a month, No reason given...No sanction report,
Just an out right ban of all his chars, I just guess its the fact that people dont like pie-rats in there lulboats?(that tend to stay in-RP 99% of the time)

Nooblet your just biased against people that are biased. This thread should be locked. You're wrong, and I can't hear you. I'm not willing to listen, despite all the evidence that shows that your biased against biasm.
/sarcasm for those who missed it.
(I love you nooblet:D)
I think the original intent of the thread was good, but yet again it's been derailed in personal things.
It seems anything of worth is difficult to discuss on these boards.

Cosmos: admins don't need to show sanction reports for all their bannings.
As for the point of this thread...
I generally start ignoring people when they say "Well you just think that way because you're biased!!! WAHWAHWAH." It just shows that they have no logical basis for their argument, and are resorting to ad hominem attacks instead.
There seems to be this misapprehension that the 'World of Internet' is a separate society, and that the rules
of the real world we all populate, though so times I do wonder, don't count. This is a delusion perpetuated
by a bunch of ill informed moronic keyboard anarchists, who have little better to do but spoil it for those who
have no axes to grind concerning anything, but just want to hang out, and enjoying gaming time, certainly
in our particular case anyway. Where was I ?

And I fail to see how some admins who play quite a few indy characters, would be biased in favor of factions they aren't a part of. Show something to prove there is some and we might get somewhere, but I've yet to see it..
:mellow:I have half an idea where that came from.
Noted.
I was using the giant conspiracy theory as an example. (Also, Dab, if you want to show my bias in my posts and such, feel free.)
User title change?
(I may or may not reply to Hyung and Hoodlum later.)
Anyway, why do people react as they do to accusations of bias, or statements stating that there is something amiss?
I see reactions ranging from frantically PM-ing an Administrator/moderator, calling for a lock, speaking of an impending lock, posting demotivational, or demotivational-like posters of cats with tin foil hats, or other images which are intended to have the same effect.
Simplistic explanations I have heard can be paraphrased to "I was making fun of a stupid situation, since from my limited reference frame I find that claim to be inaccurate, since there is no possible way a giant Admin conspiracy with faction leaders could exist." I have asked, or stated, I am unsure at this point in time, since in my land it is 2:00 hours, that it is not a giant conspiracy, but maybe little bits decided here and there, which are made partially.
Perhaps my theory of bias ever existing on the server is completely and utterly incorrect, but considering we are human I do not think so. Anyway, this thread's purpose is to discuss why people react as they do to accusations of bias, not the existence or non-existence of bias.
On a more serious note, (I've always had to think really hard to unravel your spiels nooblet:DYou say simple things, but there are many layers.)
For the first, I believe people react (based on my reactions/feelings/responses, and if other people are anything like me) to accusations of bias, because 1), "It's not true and I'm going to prove it", 2)"It's true but it's not right, and I'm going to prove it!", 3)"They think I'm guilty! I must stop that!"
In short, too many people are precious about what other people think of them.
In other ways, the reactions depend on being "right or wrong", even when there isn't any actual evidence. It's almost like a "Guilty until proven innocent" mindset.
It's the same as being accused of "Not being tolerant", or "You have Leprosy". Bias is seen to be "Bad", or "evil" because of a shift in the way society thinks. "All is equal and equality (in everything) to all." That creates its own unbalance where nobody achieves anything.
Perhaps fear of being too bright is one answer? Of standing out too much? And yet we all try to outdo each other as well don't we? "Oh but HEEEEEE's got admin POOOOOOOOWWWWAAAAASSSSS, why can't IIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE have admin POOOOOOOWWWWWAAAAASSSS." He did it to me first, so im going to do it to him!", "I don't trust anybody else to do this the right way, so I'm going to be my own boss."
I think we all can be biased, and quite severely. I think many people don't realise HOW biased they are until they get challenged on things. But I also don't think it's such a bad thing TO BE Biased. It may be seen as unfair from another's perspective, but no-one really knows what another person is thinking.

As a faction leader I can assure you that there is no bias toward me or mine.
I would however say that admins can be susceptible to misinformation by those who know how to abuse the system. They're people too, and often times screenshots can have chatboxes carefully scrolled to only show what the submitter wants them to see. If that's all the evidence they have to go on, then they're faced with either acting on what could only be half of the story or not acting at all.
This can be mistaken for bias, which it is not.
Plus, most are experienced at sniffing out grudges and are amping up efforts to find ulterior motives for submitting the report: is the violator actually being reported for the sake of the server, or is this a means of harming the reputation of and shaming the player/faction?
My own standpoint is that people will do what they want to do. If my presence and actions offend the sensibilities of someone, I take criticism with an open mind and accomodate wishes where i can. If someone still sees enough issue with the actions of myself or those I associate with that admin intervention is deemed necessary, I only hope my own reputation and record is weighed against the offending action.
On this topic: I'm seeing much less shut-in no-life hermit paranoia and "Do it the way we've always done OR ELSE" political dealing than I did when I started here. This pleases me, either the losers are being weeded out or people in general have smartened up.
