I like the idea of a massive powerplant drain. Just a consistent 2 or 3 minute period where all power-consuming weapons in a system are completely inoperable. That presents a LOT of interesting opportunities. More so than any sort of damage could.
It is like 'blowout' in Stalker game. 15-30s duration, on.eg. 100 points/sec shield and hull damage (3000 total) , cruise disruption effect. Every, except starfliers, could survive it.
It will make this game more interesting. Events would be more interesting.
Somebody with damaged hull and no bots, will die of course.
In my opinion very interesting idea.

EDIT: I just had a brain wave. An mmorpg I used to play had 'raids' where ridiculous amounts of monsters would spawn outside a town and invade. Maybe we could have NPC raids, like RM attacking Texas or Kusari in Leeds, or Nomads/Wilde, Outcasts in Gamma. I know we promote RP over PvE, but still. Throwing it out there... maybe someone can bounce a decent idea off it.
I like your idea Sindroms but with the whole radiation destroying starfliers thing couldn't we make the radiation a percentage damage? I think some radiation fields have that. So it destroys like 5% every 30 secs
I really like some of these ideas and i'm sure a lot of them could be implemented without too much trouble. The main issue is balancing, deciding which systems to use them in and where etc. Either way though, these things will have to wait until 4.86 now, which hopefully will be out sometime later this year (october/november time, maybe?).
