here s the ambulance... freighter sized ship i had in mind
its a very simple design - but i thought that a pure utility vessel that consists of mainly an emergency chamber and an airlock shouldn t really need to be fancy.
if it was animated - i could make the door open and close upon tractoring stuff in / out. - but when its fixed... i thought that a half open door might be a bit more interesting - even if its not really logical.
edit: maybe i should "permadock" ( just add them to the model ) a pair of those to the hospital - just like a transport and an armoured transport is attached to the barge as part of the model.
I like these designs a lot. I like the idea of a whole series of these ships as well.
Lord knows I don't rely on the super pods when I RP. My characters have come close to death, and I RP escape pod failures as well, so rescue ships are nice. If these ships were around in supply, it might lessen the RP reliance on such uber-pods. It would also give freelancers and mercs more to do to escort these ships, and bounty hunters could quickly find a market in hunting down people who attack such well intentioned vessels. Also throws ethical drama into military engagements when one is on the field. Do you shoot at it, or not?
Also, I would have fun as a doctor. Flyheight has already done the hospital ship thing before, so it'd be neat to have the ability to do it as a profession in game. Keep it up Jinx!
I'm a little worried about the crosses, particularly on the freighter where they are rather huge and not red, that they may appear too religious? Also, I'd say they're a little cliched, and remove the possibility of using these ships as passenger liners. Personally, I'd prefer them without the crosses at all.
There's a difference between a cross and a religious cross.
Hospital crosses have arms with identical lengths.
Religious crosses have one end that is about twice as long as the others.
If there isn't much confusion about that now, there won't be much in the game.
Red crosses are pretty much universal signs for a hospital.
