Have the ability for little crafts to actually be able to dock on a battle ship, cruiser, etc. But we could have it so that it in guard systems the bases that sell the Bs's would also sell something like a docking ring i suppose... It would have to cost a bit (hence why you would do it because your bored) and the player would/can buy the supplies it wants to sell/give away.
An example: Im bored with my liberty carrier... so heck! ill go to the guard system and buy myself a docking ring and get things to sell to other allied (obviously) players! (in a pm) hey little starflie...wana dock on me?
i cant wait to see all the criticism i always get at every single fraking thing i post. (i really do get alot)
Let's say that a person docks on a carrier, for example, using the docking ring. However, the carrier has a connection problem and disconnects. What happens when the person undocks. Where would they come out, and more importantly, what would happen when the game realised that there was a person docked on something which didn't exist?

Good point, maybe he could just restart back to where he last docked on an actual station?

Some one brings that up every time this idea is brought up, and the answer is always to re-set the base to the last point where he docked.
This has been brought up a tonne of times before, unless you know how to do the coding yourself it probably won't happen.

So...if i do know how to do the coding, we might be able to have it?
?ts been discussed seriously - but decided to be left out of 4.85 ( we know how to work it without any trouble with discon or anything ) - its a lot of work - like .. a LOT.
It -has- been done on other freelancer mods (88 flack, I believe?). There's a couple reasons its not been implemented here, as the devs actually do have the expertise to put it together, if they so wished: first, Disco is already rather complicated, and the more things you add, the less stable the whole mess gets. Second, it would consume an aweful lot of time for something of...hard to judge, at best, value. Third, there are many little bugs to work out, simmilar to the issue Sircian brought up, in many variations.
A crazy suggestion: it is possible, actually, in disco, to fit a few smallish ships into the holds of the vanilla capships. Kill sheilds, eject something from the hold, and the bay doors open, at which point a small ship may fly into the opening. This configuration is incredibly hard to manuever.
(Also, if you've a capship with a bubble sheild rather than a shrinkwrap sheild, ships can get inside it, either to circumvent the sheild, or to use it as if it were a wall, firing from inside it.
a compromise is to really only allow true carriers to access docking sequences. ( and the barge )
but we have very many carriers out already - allowing every battleship this feature might be a bit much ( although the work is the same for a few or a lot of ships ) - only the risk to cause any bugs is smaller when only few classes are allowed.
