Well I am really sad that I am going to have to leave the server.

It's too hard a transition for me to come from a private RP server where the population is smaller but the quality of roleplay is greater... I feel that this server is just too policed for an open server. I see favourtism everywhere and the older players shun the newer players big time. I really don't want to leave but I just know that I'll never be able to accomplish anything on this server. First I would like to thank Copperhead, ~Chovynz~ and all those who trusted me enough to invest time and credits into my company... I am hoping to get back the 500 Million but if not I will try my best to trade and get it back as I do not want to let anyone think I took their money and running I intend to pay them back.

As for the rest of the reason I am leaving I just don't like how we can file a sanction for a player ramming my ship and he can file one and get his dealt with in an hour. But I'm not here to point fingers I just think some questions should be asked and things done a bit more professionally. I mean when people are arguing rules for two days...

Anyway that is all I needed to say...

I'm sure most of you will probably think this is a pretty lame first post, but to be honest, the only reason I haven't said anything up until this point is because I've been VERY afraid of breaking one of the obscure rules the server has that I have never heard about.

Yes, I know they are listed. However, the sheer number alone makes it very hard to do... a lot of things. I've never been sanctioned, but I also do not wish to actually go so far as to just wait untill it happens. I say this, not because I'm a rule breaker, but just because like Tales has said, this server, all though be it fun, is not inviting because it is over policed.

I noticed, first and foremost, that there is almost no room in this place for anything OOC (Out of Character). While I see that as not necissarily a bad thing, it does sort of make the punishment line blurred. I've been a firm believer in roleplay that in character actions should receive in character consequences.

An example of this would be the prison system you guys use. Yes, I know you DO use it when someone gets into trouble... but it's not roleplayed out. And often, there are OOC consequences that go with it, money removal, and bannings. To me, that's just in it's self a reason to loose all incentive to work at trying to do almost anything on the server.

Sadly, one thing I've also seen, that scares the living daylights out me, and has convinced me to leave with this being my final post, is the sheer snarkyness put forth by the Admins in the numerous sanction posts. Now, to put this as constructivly as I can, I'd think that'd be more fair to everyone involved if said Admins would remove their own feelings from it and take a nuetral standpoint. Instead, I've noticed a bit of what seems to be favoritism for people that have been here longer.

I know that it's my choice to leave, and I am doing so. I know that a lot of people like this place, and will defend it no matter what is said. But I hope for the sake of new people, like myself and others that this community becomes a bit more player friendly and a little less controlled.

Hah well I'm going to disagree with you here Zapp:PI guess not being involved I will never know the full facts but the basic facts I see are.

Your member posted a sanction about a player ramming (incredibly hard thing to prove and for the admins to act on)

One of your members swore, utterly easy to prove (Server violation with no less than a 14 day ban, your member was banned for the minimum)

Time served on the forum here is irrelevant when it comes to sanctions, each sanctioned is reviewed by the admin team as a group to avoid bias.

Fact is your member broke a server rule and was banned for the required amount of time, end of. Sorry to see a good RP'er go, your faction propsal was great. But frankly, save your back handed superior roleplayer comments, your member broke an easily followed rule and now your toys have ejected from your pram at light speed over a temp ban. This is where I disagree with Zapp, I don't find that mature, it's immature.

There was no admin bias, only weighing of the evidence available and your member was found guilty.

Good luck wherever you decide to play in the future and take care.

I'll be sad to see you go. You have amazing potential and have already contributed heaps to this mod, wiki and community..

I really do hope you change your mind.
I left for 6 months, came back and I'm quite impressed with how much good RP I can find.

Well I wasn't leaving because of the sanction it's just something that happened while I was considering leaving and I'm not here to argue about the sanction as I totally agree he deserved it but the screens I have show a before (Ship approaching me) and after (Ship on me) but again that's not relavent to why I'm leaving as the person who did it wasn't one of the people I started with in the faction... I shouldn't have added that part it just was bugging me....

Well, personally, I find your leaving weak.

I'm not trying to flame you or insult you or your faction, but if you want something to be done, then you go ahead and you stand up for it until it is done. It is possible to accomplish things in discovery.

As for favoritism... I believe it exists here, as does it everywhere. But from the time I've spent here, I can tell you in full confidence that it does not play a major role.

EDIT: And for your information - if you were flying that transport you have in your signature, it was not that your sanction was not filed, but that there was no grounds for the sanction to begin with. Transports of any class and size can be rammed at will, so long as it doesn't constitute as a capital ship attacking a transport.

Well I am sorry you feel that way, sometimes the enviroment here can be over officious, but ramming is so hard to prove you really need a fraps video. There is a reason for the strictness, Discovery does not want for players and we have had more than our share of pvp whores and idiots. Without the rules in place, Disco decends into chaos, as I said, I dont know you, but from what I have read on your proposal it would be nice if you stayed, god knows I was a terrible RP'er when I joined the server. Disco has a big learning curve and there is a place for role players here and there always will be.

As for the no swearing rule, I fully support it, every other game server I go on is full of idiots spouting racist, religious and general garbage that has no place in RP and encourages fights which totally interferes with role play interaction. I enjoy Disco because no one is being called a jew, moron, retard etc by some 12 year old gimp that will never be able to say that crap out loud becase there basically an internet coward, secure in their bedroom housed by their parents :laugh:

Sad story mate. Your Faction proposal was solid.

There are a lot of Bullies on this server and I do agree that the server rules are some of the most anal I have ever seen in an online community. Don't even get me started on the cussing rule (most people that play Freelancer are well past their 20s).
