Ok so today I tried taking some hostages alone, I'mm an outcast btw.
So anyways i take 12 hostages and call all of liberty to see it. 3 LSF agents, the LNS blackstone and some indies showed up for the party.
I had 12 hostages, each I demanded one mil.
Now after a while, i decided would give back half the hostages but hike the price of the remaining hostages up to 24 mil, because "I didn't want my hostages to feel worthless."
And then, to my surprise, LSF goes along with it, they open up a trade menu, all my demands met, and I kept my bargain as well, in fact, I actually was giving up ALL my hostages instead of just HALF of them, when they open fired and the trade menu closed.
And then I failed. Can any experience hostage takers please gimme some advice? Hostage taking is fun:)
Hostages are a big fail of RP really... You say "Let me go, and these 20 pilots will be free... otherwise they will die." and all you usually get is fire from dreadnought and " Hostages secured" (lol) ... Too bad.
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.
Use a real player. For example, get a few civilians and start talking about how if they don't go along, you have a bomb onboard and if they fire all of them will die. Oh, and put your prices down!

Most lawful players will still ignore you, no matter what commodity you use, as anyone can go and farm pilots for a few hours. It's much better if you conduct it with willing players as the hostages...the LWB/RM did an event a while back concerning a hostage exchange, which played out quite nicely.
Players will never give you money for NPC hostages, mainly because everyone would start taking hostages for easy money and the lawfuls would quickly run out of cash.
I was also part of a hostage situation not to long ago, possibly last week, with Julia Wolfe (Some LH). Of course, being in the LN I was on the lawful side of things. While even using civilian/VIP commodity pilots the RP is still all the same. While we won't pay. those pilots are still treated in a proper RP manner and our main priority will be to get thoes pilots to safety. Not every things about the money folks, its about having that particular experience.
I reccomend getting a friend of yours or somone you know as a hostage, so they are there "willingly" for better RP.
That way the hostage cooperates with your RP, so you can say stuff like you have a bomb onboard etc...
And don't ask for too much.
