You have the exact same issue in a C-trans as you do in a Big Dragon, they are both Kusari ships, and you will have problems in Bretonia no matter which one you fly.
' Wrote:My point and thanks for replying and acknowledging..... may be admins should add stipulations of flying a more that 4499 cargo ship. You need to have two escorts on your money runs.
Cause right now I think all 5k cargo ids are a sham for "I need ma money biatch" ID.
Hence the irony of the situation where people are figuring out what restrictions can we apply for id's that allow smaller ship sizes.
Interesting comment's for 1 who started this thread looking for a bigger cargo hold. And for a MERC ID no less. Here is an Idea...Play your MERC CHAR AS A MERC...NOT A TRADER! Leave the trader's with proper trader ID's alone. You want a bigger ship? get a new ID. The staff did a great job on making limit's so peep's like you cannot yell " I am a merc.. you can't rob me"

As I stated, I wanted the C-transport to be sold to the Civilians. That ship doesnt look kusari in any manner any way.

Really now.... you see mercs yelling "I am a merc, you can't rob me" in the game? I personally haven't. Is it a new rule that I don't know about, or are you making it up as you go along?..generally mercs get it from both good and bad guys cause they are trusted by no one. I personally have been pirated (they destroyed me cause I had no cargo and no money to give them)and have been banned by lawfuls from coming to liberty in the past just because I was merc. If you are too young on disco to remember the fiasco, some mercs took out a bounty on LN, an actions for which all mercs paid.
Also don't assume I am a trader. I DO NOT trade. I do not have a sugar daddy char that feeds my other characters (admins can check that if they care). I do not have any cap ships (not even gun boats) and I work hard on my rp when I am in game. Infact the Pirate transport is the biggest ship I have got. ON that note I would like to know if YOU YOURSELF are a power trader ?
Here is an idea for you, may be I just need a ship with 35k more hull and 3 more turrets and I don't really care about the cargo. WIll it be ok for the admins for me to fly it if I promise I will never use more than the 3800 of the alloted cargo ?. Again, my point is what do I have to to look forward to after a cargo transport ?
The reason why I do not want to change my ID to a non merc is because no matter what turmoil JG went through I have maintained my mercenary ID and rp on disco and I intend to keep it that way. This meta gaming bullsh!t about changing your ID to fit your needs may be you, but it is just not me (but thank you for the enlighteneing advice).
Well i have bben around long enough to know all the trouble merc's caused. Just look and see and you will note we joined forum about same time, but i have played since 4.83. I myself also do not power trade. My biggest ship is my Junker guard Salvager. I also do not change ID's. I pick an ID when i start a char, and work on it.
Back in 84 i was 1 of those voting to loose the merc ID altogether. It is abused all to hell. Personally i think a MERC/BH/Navy/Police,and a few other's should not be able to use transport's at all, Just freighter's.

Same here... I joined the forums after almost a year of playing here. {\JG/] itself did pretty well on the RAW server before that for a couple of years and having the group move here was like pulling teeth in those days.
If you have been around so long, ask around about how [\JG/]'s rp has been in the last 2 plus years. I may be one of the last few active members but I will finish as a JG merc when ever that may be. If you read the ID of the merc and the JG rules of engagement (written almost two years ago, prbably one of the reason for me creating an ID here), you will find a lot of very strange similarities.
I will help you understand my rp as a merc since you see merc ID as irrelevantt.
My JG ships are "helpers". They do not rob, they help in robbing. They do not take bounties, they help in collecting them. I stay neutral because if my employer is out of action, I disengage.
As for why I need a transport ship, I have been hired in the past by pirates to collect the loot dropped by this new breed of miner looters, after they are killed. I get a standard fee for running "their" cargo to Narita. They also hire me to sit next to a tradelane just in case a trader does not pay and they have to blow him up. I do NOT fire on the trader and do not assist in pirating. Traders generally pay when they see a transport sitting close to them. In the past escorts have turned on me for sitting close by and I am in need of a transport that is more fortified than a pirate transport that can take a few more hits than a pirate transport. I also need some thing similar to a pirate transport that is civilian in nature.
My transport has also been used as a decoy by more creative traders to distract pirates. Trust me, taking a cargo of cosumer goods and running it a trade lane ahead of a miner not only advises the miner of upcoming threats on the tradelane, I can also "get caught" and pay them a a little fee ( aka distract them away from lane)while the miner flies by (small fee for a miner and very good rp).
Last but not least, my fighters and bombers are used to provide balance in fights that are very lopsided. meaning if I see three gunboats taking on one fighter, I will offer my services to the fighter since he is a clear underdog (fighter has to acccept). If fight is even, I do NOT interfere.
This may not be the rp for all but it works for me and I have decent friends now on both sides of the law.
You can see that I differentiate my rp as a merc from general freelancer IDs and for that reason merc ID needs to stay.
Just to try to bring this back on track...
A clarification on your initial question because maybe it's unclear.
Are you asking that as your ID states you can fly a ship with a hold of 3800, why aren't there any that you can fly?
Why therefore was 3800 stipulated knowing that there are no ships that fit that description?
As there aren't any, why was it put on the ID in the first place?
Are we expecting any new designs to fulfill this role in the near future?
I'm asking this so that I understand the perspective of the question, rather than the implication which may have been misinterpreted.
(That aside, the Border Worlds transport will probably be your best bet as everything currently stands).
3800 was probly the cargo of a ship in beta, and they probly changed,or got rid of said ship, but left the ID as is. It could also just be a random number that they threw out there. Also as you said, there may be a future ship with exactly that cargo space. You never know what might be in the next update here.
As to pipsqueak i know about your faction. I also ran a faction awhile back. {JM} {JC} if they ring a bell to u. It was a long while back, and i started as a member under DUDE42,and raised myself to second in command. After he left i was leader, and we did well. We were junker's that were hostile to all bretonian, and went well as bret space is generally empty compared to...say NY, and we brought some player's to it. We disbanded do to some inner turmoil, and from thing's i have read over last while so did JG.
All said. Right now Merc's in transport's that are helping pirate's are being considered power gamer's. They are not liked, and not wanted by most. I am not putting on the lable here, disco player's are. Myself and a few other's soon to pop out of the woodwork, will be hunting exactly this kind of power player. It is amasing how easy it was to get a few together just for this type of a hunting group.
well there is nothing wrong with the evolution of rp. If you think that is what you want to do then go for it. All the more reason for me to justify my request for a more fortified ship.
Remember if no one hires me as an escort, I have to find work some where.
Also, I am sure you will not expect me to sit there and just take it either.
Well reading my older post's... i must admit i came on a little to strong. I am sorry for that. All i meant to say was- Certain ID's should not have huge cargo capable ship's allowed. As an example, I have a Junker char, and would if he could use a 5K transport to smuggle..er i mean transport goods from 1 junker base to another, but alas he is in a salvager. I just think if you are not using a trade company ID or similar, you shouldn't need a huge cargo hold.
I was not asking for a 5k ship. I just need something better than what I got.
I thought there were two container transports (one at junyo and one at the NT shipyard) and I was hoping the one that has that ugly plaid mattern for containers could be set up for a different niche. A super fortified transport. with transport guns, may be a GB shield and about 3600 cargo. it would be a ship for mercenaries that are willing to haul "risky" cargo in risky situations.
