remember that mission where you had to hunt down Ashcroft with a cargo full or artifacts or something, and how angry that guy got at you when you shot his engines out and he wasnt ashcroft?
yeah if some houses police was giving me a hard time when i was a law abiding citizen of a lawful faction i'd shout at them about calling my lawyers, seeing them in court, and maybe a few very RP insults.
i think if you did it well enough, it'd be alot more RP then just cruising through and not saying anything.
' Wrote:Glad to hear that ... but most lawfuls here fire a CD and then determine if I've done something wrong. And just because I have a Pirate ID doesn't mean I'm guilty of piracy. Pirate ID says I can trade too ...:D... so make sure I've actually done something wrong. Cause most just see a Pirate ID and think its ok to just blow me up ... with or without evidence of wrong doing. I got cargo of food, water and/or medicine ... where do you see wrong doing?
The thing on your pirate ID that say you can trade is about smuggling and bringing stuff to pirate bases, if you bring that stuff to lawful base, and that you dont get shot by lawful NPCs, I think you deserve getting shot to death.
Quote:Very few who get pulled over by the cops are in a good mood. Been on both sides of this in RL.
Fair enough ... but in RL ... you knew about a crime being committed and did not respond ... you're liable for whatever happens to the victim.
Its a game, and like Hack said, if someone call you a fat lazy ass cop or anything similar and then complaint they get pirated, I think you would let him get pirated.
Quote:I don't know as though they did any of that for fun ... but they were brain washed and actually "believed" they were doing it for the best of their nation and race. As for name calling ... I'd say it goes both ways. I'm tired of people responding to me by calling me a "whiner" or "crying" or whatever. Calling me these things does not contribute to the discussion. So ... I promise not to call people Nazis if you guys promise to respond to WHAT I have to say rather than respond to WHO says it. In other words ... don't talk AT me ... talk TO me.
EDIT: I didn't actually call anyone a Nazi ... I called them the Gestapo ... slightly different. Perhaps the correct term would be "thought police."
Nazis made really bad things, even mentioning them here in a flamewar (it is, no need to deny it) is unacceptabe.
To be fair, that fake Ashcroft was also smuggling artifacts. Besides, Juni and King were LSF, they're spooks, not cops.
Other houses may have less of this, but in Liberty, with the LPI being a corporation and all, well, they're not quite the same as other House police forces. You traders just keep antagonizing them... next time you're sending out a distress call, see how long it takes the police to come. Oh? Terribly sorry, but there's an urgent threat in the exact opposite direction from you, we'll get there when we can.
' Wrote:Besides, Juni and King were LSF, they're spooks, not cops.
So was Trent at the time. (Well, private contractor for the LSF)
When I see a Dodge Charger in my rear view mirrors, I panic. (Cops in my area use them for highway patrol)
I don't get mad at them. I freak out. I drive 45.000000000 miles an hour. Give or take a few zeroes.
Anyways.

' Wrote:I consider seeing someone with Pirate ID as in today's society, a cop doing a routine license plate check on a car. He runs the plate, and finds that the owner has a couple of warrants outstanding for something or other. Or he finds real quick that while there is nothing outstanding, the guy has a rap sheet a mile long. So while the person being pulled over may not be doing anything right then and there - he's got a history that follows him. THAT'S your Pirate ID - it's your history. And yes, the cop is perfectly in his rights to keep an eye on you, make sure that you're law abiding now. He wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't.
Running the license plate through a computer is quite different from rolling out the spike strips. How about if the guy does NOT have any outstanding warrants? My pirate has not pirated since about October 2008. He's currently on his 3rd ship since that time ... I'd say his warrants have been executed by now. And he's been destroyed 3 times for sitting 10k away from Manhattan (and nowhere near a trade lane) not bothering anyone. So why was he attacked?
My pirate even role played with the BAF a while back where they scanned me, ran my credentials through their database and took me into custody. They escorted me to their prison in Manchester where I paid all outstanding fines (actually paid 2 mil credits to one of the BAF) and was released on my own recognizance. I'd say that was some pretty decent role play. And guess what ... not a single shot was fired ... not even a CD. WOW!!!
Even if a criminal has a rap sheet (history of bad guy stuff) ... if he's got no warrants and is not doing anything illegal ... you CANNOT arrest him. That would be harassment. Even bad guys have rights. He could be a reformed criminal for all you know. Keep harassing him and he might return to his old ways. Or you can let him go and he might turn over a new leaf ... you don't know. But just because he's got history doesn't mean he's presently guilty of anything. You CANNOT arrest on past history alone. He's gotta have something presently in the system ... ie: a warrant for something. Keeping an eye on someone doesn't mean you stop him every time you see him. It doesn't mean you lay out the spike strips when he'd easily volunteer to stop for you.

Yeah ... I wonder if he ever got reimbursed for the damages done to his ship? How many times has that happened in RL? You get a warrant for somebody but you break in the wrong door and kill the guy who's trying to defend his family from someone breaking down his door?
' Wrote:I do believe you actually shot him down, rather than hit him with a CD.
Well ... actually ... that depends on whether YOU fired the CD or not. Of course that guy never got a chance to respond since you pretty much went guns blazing to take out his engines before he could do anything.

WHERE oh WHERE does it say smuggling? It says you can "trade" dude. Smuggling is a specific bit of cargo that is illegal. Where does it say that the pirate can only trade in cardamine or artifacts? It doesn't ... so quit makin stuff up. A pirate can purchase food, water, medicine and other commodities at both unlawful AND neutral bases. I can buy stuff from Junkers and Zoners ya know. And I can take them to other unlawful or neutral bases. I can CERTAINLY role play supplying the poor with food, water, medicines, blankets and such, can't I? Talk about thinking in black and white ... geez!!!
Yes ... its a game ... and EVERYBODY gets to role play ... not just you lawfuls who wanna gank on pirates. Role play brings creativity to this "game." Without role play its just a shoot-em-up PVP fest. Think outside the box man.
I never said Nazi ... I said Gestapo. Hack interpreted it as Nazi. So ... unless YOU too wanna take me out of context ... go ahead ... but what the intended meaning is "thought police." And that's exactly what this nitpick is about ... forcing someone to think like you. Just because you role play a cop doesn't mean everybody's gotta call you sir or ma'am and say please and thank you. Some people have a great disdain for the police. Minorities absolutely "hate" police officers because of past cultural upbringing. Some cops in the past acted quite evil ... and minorities have never forgotten that. As a result ... cops are bitterly hated by certain people groups for no rational reason. But you demanding to be treated with respect is nothing more than you acting like the gestapo and "forcing" people to agree with your views ... thought police ... maybe I should just refer to you guys as "Big Brother."
My problem is not with the people that RP being angry at the police or whatnot. My problem is twofold:
1. People who go "lolz police corrupt" which is the extent of their RP.
2. EVERYONE antagonizes the police/lawfuls. OK, fine, I get that some people are bound to have a grudge, but really people, do you have to be all "Ima tuff guy! RAR!!" and wave your e-peen around in system chat?
Or the other common one, "I'm so dark and gritty and I speak in a gravelly voice that must have come from smoking 3 packs a day and I'm a bitter grizzled old war vet who's seen too much death in my life but I keep going cause that's my duty but I really have a soft heart and I'm just looking for someone to love and oh yeah I'm 17 and an admiral and my war medals weigh more than I do."
