Why do Outcasts have gunboats in Liberty anyways? They are fighting wars on multiple fronts, against the Corsairs in Eta, the Hessians in the Omegas, and up until recently, the CR. Why are they deploying their resources to be shot down by the in RP massive navy of the core worlds? The only possible vested intrests the Outcasts have in Liberty is the Cardamine, and the Rogues? But really, (in RP again) what have the Rogues ever done for the Outcasts? Haul cardamine? I'd hardly call it an amazing alliance if the Rogues go stronger if the Outcasts are brought down by 2 (+2/3) wars?
If you didn't feel like reading that: Outcasts have lotsa wars, their guns should be at the front, not shooting up passerby lightyears from their war.

However today I was destroyed by a Rogue Gunboat, which sadly to say, if actually even worse then an Oucast gunboat.

I doubt any of the Outcasts in Liberty give any sort of a damn about Outcast RP. If they did, they'd all be in the Taus. You find more Outcasts pirating in Liberty than anywhere else in Sirius, my trader flies through the Taus completely unopposed because all the pirates are off in Liberty.
And why?
'pew pew'
Personally if I had it my way I'd put a clause in the Outcast ID Baring them from piracy and attacking lawfuls in Liberty. Too bad that won't ever happen, and it's just my biased opinion. And that wouldn't solve the problem either, the player base would just swap to Rogue or Hacker Gunboats. You see... it's not the Outcasts who are the problem at all. It's the mindsets of the people behind them, and that's something you can't add an ID clause to cut out.
"Players with this ID may not be idiots."
mh..
for a long time - it was said that the "police does not need big ships. - even gunboats were considered "bad RP" for the police"
mind you - that standard was mostly suggested BY the police itself! - i have not seen many pirates saying "oi, you police lot, you must not fly gunboats against us"
so - the best counter to gunboats are ( surprise ) destroyers. - but the police factions cut themselves from those ships - by their own free will.
now you really cannot complain that you have no effective counter against gunboats. - the official police refused to allow the use of such large ships ( out of the responsibility not to spin the capital ship spiral more upwards or other reasons - who knows ) - but cause YOU don t want to use the large ships doesn t mean that the same must apply to the enemy that never asked NOT to use gunboats etc.
when players say "bombers own everything" - be my guest - deploy masses of bombers - if there are players to fly them. but it really was the police factions themselves that voluntarily wanted not have destroyers and battleships listed in their ID. - it was not a demand of the pirates.
its like saying "we zoners have decided not to use capital warships at all anymore! - how DARE you nomads to attack us with battleships!!!"
edit:
what does a pirate want? - he primarily wants to rob traders and either avoid the police or successfully fight the police. - that is RP. if he wants to "match" the opposing police forces - he must rely on the police forces to play fair, too. - i daresay, there are enough pirates that got attacked by overwhelming forces when they were trying to pirate in a single bomber or even a fighter. (only, no police would ever come to the forum saying "whoa, these pirates - we owned them 3 to 1 easily!" )
the gunboat is the best piracy vessel. - when used in rediculous numbers - every ship is a pain. when facing such a threat like 4 gunboats bunched up or more. it would become a matter of the military. - and the military CAN deploy a battleship against them - and thats also totally fair. no one that is serious about it will complain that a house military used a dreadnought to chase off 4 gunboats that were too much for the police to take and had it "their way" all the time.
' Wrote:Well the answer to this is simple, call the indie LNS's they will set those damn gunboats straight!
Then who will take care of all the LNS after all the Outcasts are gone? Introuducing worse pests to remove existing pests has never proved effective. Ferrets were introduced to NZ to take care of Rabbits, now they kill Kiwis. Think on that metaphor for a moment.
see a fight you cant win? cruise to the nearest base and log off. the best way to avoid getting stressed over a game is to avoid situations that will give rise to stress. when you know that you will get pwnt and you still willingly head on to fight against all odds, I'd call you stupid. not every fight is meant to be won, learn to pick your battles.
HOWEVER, with that said, the number of gunboats (outcast gunships primarily) has risen tenfold, specially taking into consideration that it has 8 guns, the perfect hitbox allows it to dodge supernova shots, it can tank fighters/bombers, and spam 1 missile continuously to keep bombers/fighters off its back. in 4.84, there were too many LNS caps to counter pirates. pirates get pissed off at the repeated ganks, so they upgrade to gunboats too, just when the LN try to curb the spam of caps. ironic, and sad, really.
I dont like hypocrity shown here by pirates. They moaned when NY was full of capships year ago. Moaned alot. Mocked the capships and said "uh NY is crap"
Those rare few remained, as rogues, xenos or junkers. I know I made a xeno with XA just to have some fun, train for bombing squads and whatnot.
Now, situation is suddenly turned, and pirates don't mind it.
There's a funny thing rolling in my head as i'm writing this.
On one hand i should support the lawfuls there and tell pirates to go back to their roles of pirates. Especially indie pirates. Way things look like now is that all factioned pirates are poor in their bombers and fighters but all indies are rich oil magnates in their uberships.
wrong.
don't do it.
back to bombers and fighters.
on the other hand why do i care? Hopefully there will be so many pirates in NY that traders will start going trough omegas. More profit for my crew.
but someone mentioned it, lawfulls need to start recruiting more. Maybe better donuts?
Gunboats deal with other gunboats pretty well. Get some Liberty ones for the LPI, or make some LN characters and you'll get rid of the pirate ones pretty fast.
