I just pretend it isn't even there. Funny how it doesn't impact my game time in the slightest. People go on about RP value but they tend to forget about that one little issue that started Freelancer.
be aware that isolation kills a faction. - it can be inRP as much as you like.... but if you want to isolate yourself... and if the players that are "isolated" actually agree to it... you die, cause playing with oneself is just not as much fun as playing with others.
it does indeed leave the question.... is "old" sirius isolated? - or is gallia isolated. sirius is bursting with interaction and life. gallia dies a slow and boring death - and the worst is.... when its dead and rotting, sirius doesn t even notice... nor care.
the decision made by players of gallia today affect future gallia players. - so when you isolate yourself today, i predict :
- those players that isolated gallia will switch to sirius characters after some time
- they are responsible for a whole section of space to rot and die - but they would never admit to it.
when its about such an issue - think in RP but also ooc. you don t want to be alone, in order to play with other and still remain secluded, - you must leave little gaps to sneak through. - if you seal those up.... you WILL be the first ones that will feel how it is to be alone.
in a whole - sirius doesn t care much if gallia opens trade or not. - sirius is busy with all its different factions, its little wars, its trade. - sirius DOES NOT NEED gallia to have fun. - gallia needs sirius to have fun though. - without sirius... gallia is just a fancy bastille. ( at least for now.... that is )
in a very ooc way.... its not sirius begging for trade. - its gallia begging sirius to trade with them. - this is not inRP - but its how gameplay in that case works. gallia is at the very mercy of sirius cooperations and players, not the other way round.

You try diplomacy with the ones who wish to fight against the Royalists and prevent them from waging an otherwise senseless war.
It was there hostility that made me feel as I do.
I found that out later and that's what my current mission is. I got what I deserved I guess by leaping without looking.

Jinx, we do leave gaps... but everyone wants to OORPly fix their reps so they can jet past otherwise hostile battleships.
Noone is begging anyone. Back during the Treaty of Reunion, BAF came to us for RP, we didnt ask them to. Same for KNF. If people don't like the damned RP, noones forcing them to make their RP involve Gallia.
This thread has gotten a bit off the original post.. being the issues such as people whining about GRP pirating their Neon/Cryocube GRN-Repfixed Traders just because other House Police aren't allowed to pirate.
Edit: GRN, the truest of pro-isolation RPs in Gallia. Is probably also the largest faction currently in Gallia, so much for killing it eh?
You people who hate the Isolation RP.... Bring up Council and Maquis Characters.... w/e. I don't care, Gallic RP is good as it is, the only issues being those i pointed out.
Smuggle all you want in Gallia. But if your caught and ordered to leave. Dont dock on every....single....Gallic Royal Base to be found as you leave. As what happened this morning.
i stil ldont see any grounds as i said it sounds like a nomad only without the infestation a "SUBMIT OR DIE" wtfuberpwnzor race kusari and brentionia hel leven if the nomads came back wouldsrn reunite even if igliss said they were theres so much discoed rp hatred after the renewd war (and i personally found all my kusari interactions snobish/elitest) galis imp, lementation seems like its killing the group before it even begines
Gallia is not dying a slow and rotting death. The Gallic Royal Navy, the Gallic faction that has the most zeal towards isolationism, has new members daily. They have a lot of fun, despite the frustration we often receive from traders and explorers who haven't made the effort to understand the situation of Gallia and decide to abuse it in one form or another.
Your prediction is horribly wrong. We will never die out, because there will always be that trader that is going to abuse the Gallic trade lanes and attempt to make a profit. There will always be that explorer that is looking for a thrill and dares defy our warnings. There is always something to do. It doesn't matter how many people will shoot; they will not stop. But then again, neither will we. And you may say "See, you need those people!" then you are still wrong; I would actually trade one hundred of those people for a decent Council player (not that I'm saying current Council players are horrible... we just need more of you!) And when Gallia is empty, I have no problem training against the battleship patrols that clash constantly in the contested systems. THAT'S interesting.
I have been playing in Gallia since the beta. The majority of my characters are Gallian. I have not grown bored yet. Why? How can I? The systems are beautiful and the lore is intriguing. I'm very excited for .86. These current Border Worlds are just the tip of the iceburg... I can't wait to see the rest of Gallia.
Following what Tybalt said, Gallia is only as interesting as the players make it. The GRN have made it pretty interesting for one side of the war, and kudos to a developing Maquis faction that has done a good job setting up so far. There is nothing wrong with Gallia; it might not be for everyone, and if it is not for you, don't flame it.
And to those who don't believe Gallia would be still in existence after 800 years of isolation, who believe they would not have superior technology and numbers, and who do not believe they would retain a grudge for centuries: Read. The. Damn. Wiki.
You say we "need" those people, or Gallia will die. You are horribly mistaken. After few updates if Gallia will ehm.... "dying" we will liberate entire sirius, which means a lot of action and fun yet to come.
PS: This thread should be moved to Flood, for it is only another "lolwutting" whinning....
Carnage itself flying within void... Proud cardihead ever since 2008...
You all gonna eat cardi!

Quoted for truth. All of it.
Maybe some day, they'll see a hero is just a man who knowshe's free.

Sirius will fall in time, soldier. Let's stamp out this rebellion first. :)
