I can do it backwards too you know.Nothing would stop that or a macro
Quote:How about same route detection? nobody has the nerves to drivbe same route (very long one that makes it worth while) more than five times, do if takeoff/landing has exac locations five times, busted. That doesn't sound difficult to write!
Wont work. BEcause the best routes are still back and forth
' Wrote:OK i get it, but hell, makro doin' all the work for you takes exactly as much time as you doin' it yourself.
So what is precicely the problem even if somebody pulls that off? He did not do damage to other players, he only earned money 'the lazy way' but for other players it is exactly the same thing: he driving the route or makro doin' it for him.

The problem is that you dont have to be at your computer for it to do the work for you, seriously I could write a simple macro to do my usual trading run in less than an hour....
So 1 hour to write - then I leave it running for 12 hours overnight (my trade route makes just off 30mil per/hour) so when I get up in the morning I have 12x30=360million extra credits to play with. Not really fair eh?
Oh and as for route detection? 2 issues with that, what if I have a day off work and just want to sit and trade for that battleship? Will I get banned after a certain amount of time dong it? And the second issue, when there are 200 players on the server keeping track of where they are just now and where they have been for the last x amount of minutes would put incredible strain on the server.

You dont get what I'm trying to point out!!
Looks like nobody does so let me put it in laymans terms:
You cannot import char from MP to earn millions bacauze when imported it is like MP just offline: therefore if you can make millions on Sp imported, you can also do it in MP without need to import, cuz you have exactly same possibilies,
difference is that everything you do does not report to server immediately, but to a log file which is uploaded to server afterwards, that is, after you recconect to the server.

No you won't because you will get attacked sooner or later, leading to longer travel time, and rezulting in a possibility of landing on nearby station for repairs. Macro does not do that.
Yes i have totally disregarded the problem of server overstrain. However allow me to think fo a few minutes for that.
EDIT: come up with a solution.
As soon as internet connection is reastablished, your log file is updated and you continue to play online, with pause for recconection with server, and you don't continue exactly from that spot, but from last take off spot (most likely system entering) due to additional players and NPC added.
EDIT 2 fogot to acctually write down the point.
The point is that your computer tracks you player when it is offline, and when you get online you can't do makro's as was put in a first place: most players will keep destroying you.

Yes but have you flown a transport and been attacked by NPC's? In my shire I usually just ignore the NPC's shooting at me till the lane comes back up (and they aren't low level NPC's either, but they still dont put a dent in my shield). And as for a macro not being able to repair, heck I could integrate and aimbot and have it shoot back with better accuracy than any player could have. Then have it repair at the next base. If you are clever in how you program it (and I'm good at programming) you can have it do anything you do in game.
As for you second point well if people knew there was such a mechanism, then all they would need to do is put a variation in once every x times, or program the macro to close the game (which whether you like it or not would stop the logging) and then start it back up.
Would you really went through all that trouble just to cheat in a game?
Just to make virtual money and kill all the fun in a game?
If somebody is smart enough to bypass all systems an succesfully cheat to make tons of money, i believe he is smart enough to realize it is a waste of time, besides how many of 18.800 players on Discovery RP are capable of that?
And another TING if someone is capable of that he can as well bust your server (not in game, in real life) and cause damage you pay with real money.
OK PPL is there anybody who actally gives a crap to back up my idea and make it happen?

That is exactly why I dont do that.

Actually quite a lot, Ive got talking to a few people around here who do a fair bit of programming. Anyway to do most of that stuff isn't hugely hard, you just have to know how to use the Windows API

Someone did exactly that just a couple of months ago, which is why I'm against opening the server up any more than it has to be, when it goes to that stage though it is criminal damage and you can be prosecuted. The big men in jails like to make little hacker kids who think their 1337 their bitches.

Funny until that part i though you acctually supported me, cauze your replys implemented so.
OK Then all'y'all seem to drop out when something harder needs to be done.
Since i can see that my idea that could possibly be turned int a profit is too tough for you (haddow, if you could write that code, perfect it, if you could took yourself 2 monts of work, you would have pretty usefull ability to use in MMO-s witch you could sell for REAL money an ting, i would have requested apsolutely NO CUT FOR MY SELF)
I'm just gonna ask for help for one issue that i have :
This is copy paste from my mail to iggis who has not replied
...
It is just yesterday that i acctually started playing online, my frend got me into it, so i brought my laptop ova to his place hooked up UTP patch kable to his router and started rockin'
Earned alot of money an bought a good ship.
I got back home where my internet connection is shared through my PC (pc connected to wireless network, and in LAN with laptop)
But a huge problem arised: my freelancer was unable to find any servers, while at friends place 4 Discovery servers immediately popped up.
Now all that happens is : connecting to global server
AND NOTHING!
I tried directip exe, punched up ip and launced freelancer, and nothing again
Tried xfire, says: server not responding to inforation query
So i thought up of a system how internet connection is shared (both laptop and pc are on WINDOWS 7, and friends pc is too)
Went to sharing, and advanced, to get the list of all ports allowed. I added one more to the list, 2302, which is used by freelancer as far as i know.
'But I was, again, frustrated by failure."
I'm fresh out of ideas (i was born with tenedency to solve problems right away and this thing is killin' me)
If any other game would be in the matter, i would easily solved the problem through the console.
But hell freelancer doesn't have one
So pleaase my man help me out here i was really enjoying the RP server and my friend is also frustrated cuz we can no longer play together.
Is there another port that needs to be opened and that know nothing about?
Oh yea, one more notice: wireless network i'm on forbbids the use of torrents so ports were blocked (even xfire was unusable but works now) hope it helps in some way.
Can you please spare some time to help me?
..
I hope that at leats this problem that got me thinking of offline MP play idea gets solved.

If you had actually read what I had said earlier you would have seen that it is IMPOSSIBLE under windows so to get around it all I need to do is...
1: Get the source-code for freelancer (HA... Microsoft is more likely to release the source for windows... well not actually, but its still hugely unlikely).
2: Write another OS that separates the API calls between virtual and actual key presses and then get it more popular winthan3: Re-write FL to work with new OS, a game that took a full development studio almost 5 years to write.
4: ????
5: Profit

^^Now thats more like it, I you had started out like that you would have found us much more receptive rather than telling us we have to open our server up to hackers just so you can play... but regardless... lets see what we can do.
What wireless network are you connected to: you own one, public one? Do you have admin access the the router? Is it possible to disconnect the pc and try directly to the laptop (just for a few mins)? f you deactivate the mod and use the global server fix (Google for the starport and its there somewhere) can you connect to a vanilla (not modded) server?
