Why is there a Folder called Desktop ****?

Long story, and if I tell you, I will have to kill you ...

He basically throws his desktop icons and stuff like that IN said folder so it doesn't clutter up the desktop, and when he needs to access said things he goes inside the folder. I know a few friends who do that as well.
