1-Helpchat not obvious enough no? Its not just me, but most of the newbies I ask don't know it exist. Plus, link not working no? Methinks we should get a browser built IRC channel and a newbie help forum.
A stickied link to the help chat wouldn't hurt.
' Wrote:2-Maybe go easy on lolwutters in pensyl and new york? Maybe make pensyl OORP, well it already is with all the chatter going around. NY isn't much better, but at least its supposed to be the shopping mall of sirius.
No. I know you don't care about it, but this is a RP server. No OORP Systems please. Conneticut is enough.
NY is bad enough as it is. Do you really want it to get worse?
' Wrote:3-Make starflyer starting ship better? Maybe give it more gun, more shield armor cargo, better all round but still same sell price. Better justice mark 1 but same sell price. Yes they should have to build themselves up like everyone else but right now only practical way up is to join a corp to get a ship. Bleeding our coffers dry, them who come and go. We give them credits, they end up disappearing.
Just keeping an open mind...feel free to add ideas!!
Oh, come on! Like many others, i've started on a Starflea, upgrading to a freighter, then to a transport and so on...everything without joining a coorperation and with a great deal of fun. You don't need to buff the Starflea.
Try the Lane Hacker faction trial sometime. Make a starflier, and dock only at Rochester/Allentown. The only ship you're allowed to upgrade to is a Dagger once you can land on Buffalo. That is fun. I did it a month into joining Discovery, the LH was my first faction.
Seriously, Discovery is meant to be challenging. It's the big draw of the mod; why NPCs hit harder, why they regenerate, why bases tear you a new one.
Play Disco for a while and then go back to Vanilla. You demolish the single player storyline in a way that's not even funny.

THis is exactly the sort of negative impressions that we need to GET RID OF. Go easy on the new people. They might lolwut - but meh. THEY ARE NEW to the game. We were ALL lolwutters at SOME STAGE. Would you like it if someone went up to you and treated you unfairly because you hadn't learned proper RP yet?

I was never a lolwutter, I studied the game and server for a week before I got it working right...
I went from Starflea to Transport thanks to Eppy too!

I like to think we actually are newbie friendly, if the new guy in question accepts what the server is about and adapts. Good questions here are answered earnestly, and people are patient when the person has shown an effort to understand.
I know we're outright jerks when someone doesn't seem to appreciate the answers he gets to his questions, though.

Yes, everybody is a newbie at some point. And because of this it is important that they get the right impression from whats happening here from the very first moment. Otherwise they'd start in OORP Penn, mining helium all day to fund their first freighter/transport and then go out there, with no clue how to behave.
They might misbehave in Penn and NY anyway now, but at least there are some people around providing good RP so they can get an impression of correct behaviour.
