Your /ragequit is unnecessary. I just found out the game is still fine even with the cruise thing. You just need to drop out before you reach your target and RP with it until your power comes back.

<Sarcasm><Tenacityimpersonation>"How DARE you tell me how I should attack my targets - I will have you know that my tactics for attacking pixelbased targets has worked for centuries, being passed down in the family to me in a secret ceremony involving the sacrifice of 4 rubber chickens, 20 copies of Elite for the BBC B, and one picture of Dusty Lens in a loincloth yelling "THIS IS SPARTA". This tactic has worked since the time of Pong in the arcades, so it should NOT be changed at all, or you will all surely burn in hell."

It is a good change, it only need to be perfectioned.
I have to say I find the down time a bit long, but first I will look how it does in-game.
Also, it is a problem with high-level NPCs. They appear 2K away from you, so they can CD you, and while you are waiting the time for the regen, you will get shot at by them and in some cases, you might get killed.
For missions its not that much of a problem since you just EK before the mission and wait for the thing to recharge.
Also, to reduce shield running, an idea would be to make so shields dont regen during cruising.

Really? Good God Cannon dont change it back please.... I will take all the blame for it as long as you dont change it back.... We could be rid of him.
I see no problem in this. Cruising in a combat and start shooting at once is awful. The bigger ship the worse it is.
For those who say it's not "real" (as if freelancer was realistic....) , have you considered that these cruise engines surely emit some heat? This energy drain can simulate cooling down.
This change means nothing for my fight tactics. Only that I'll be finally able to escape a gunboat with my yacht.
Draining to 0 when cruising is too detrimental for the player. It should be drained to 50% (preventing bombers from using the SN) and the downtime should be slightly shorter. Having a VHF/bomber unarmed for 20 seconds is quite long. It is even worst for the LABC and the grizzly...
And if you really believe this will stop shield runners... maybe... But I really doubt it.
50% would be okay for bombers and fighters, but for caps it should be to Heavy CM dropping power, else they can still fire missiles and the Razor.

I approve this suggestion. Sure, it also has downsides and possible side effects, but at least it directly tackles the main problem.
The power drain itself doesn't bother me, and it makes sence within Freelancer lore. It's the five or more second delay before regeneration restarts that I find so annoying. It basically gives NPCs a free pass at your ship, and it just feels so unfair.
I haven't fought in PvP combat yet so I can't comment on if it actually reduces shield running.
Still, I give a hearty thanks to everyone involved, for putting in the effort to make this game better for everyone.
