Yeah, how many guns, anyways?
Read Jinx' post, two forward guns, five turrets (Four forwards, one aft only)

Ok, rereading the post some I see something that I am curious about.
The 2 forward guns I can understand, something like the Kusari GB or the Bounty Hunter GB where they have special forward guns that are not found on any other GB.
But what I am not understanding is if the other four guns, not counting the aft gun, can only fire forward, would that not be in effect 6 forward guns only? What about the fireing arcs to the Top, Bottom and Sides?
Even on the Trident, there are more than enough guns able to fire into any other arc to make attacking from the sides dangerous to do in the right hands.
I still have no idea as to what the ship itself looks like since there is no Image for me to look at, any chance of getting a web link to that from anyone?
Tint the textures closest to the "Energy Ball" green so that it looks like the ball is actually lighting parts of the ship.
Alos, the textures on the twin tails of the ship do not look right. I recommend you redo them.
Otherwise, good work.
' Wrote:well - i revised the project...
it is now gunboat sized - cause the harvesters had asked for something like that in the past. - i also attached two wings with two guns to it. ( yes, they are guns, not engines ) - main reason for that is rather simple.... - the avenger hitbox matches VERY well - so no need for a custom hitbox.
the idea would be something to accompany drones that is not cruiser sized ( and so not allowed to pirate ) - so this gunboat concept is:
- 85.000 hitpoints ( thats rather low )
- average agility ( IMG GB style )
- large powerplant ( 600.000 )
- 400 cargospace ( default )
- large size ( roughly as large as a hathor but easier to hit, cause its not as flat, but rather triangular )
- two forward cannons ( meaning, they are basicly razors with the typically limited arc but more efficiency )
- 5 gunboat turrets ( 4 forward only, 1 backwards only )
- 1 cm, cd
in theory, it is a gunboat with two fixed razor like guns, a very good energy efficiency ( cause they are f-guns and not razors ) but low defenses ( agility / size / hitpoints ) a pure assault gunboat that relies on firepower and gives up durability.
i could only test it in open SP - and got utterly crushed by a destroyer NPC mission - but i guess it can do better when accompanied by drones and not charging mindlessly into a group of 5 destroyers.
things to fix:
- running lights do not show from within the sphere - so i think i ll have to put them outside
Four turrets that can fire forwards, out of five. That does not mean four locked forwards.

4 forward firing turrets means that you have a wide forward firing arc ( meaning you can fire anywhere in chase view ) ( like fighter guns )
1 rear firing turret means that its a turret that is locked in a tighter arcs rearwards ( like a 60 degree instead of the default 90 ) - so that it snaps quicker to the target when you switch to a rearview.
2 forward firing cannons means that it has 2 guns that are mostly not able to spin at all - but allow only something like a 10 degree arc - which means, you gotto fly straight towards the target.
yes - it would look neat to have the glow effect shine on the armour - but it d also mean to apply custom skins. ... and while its a neat effect to get .... you don t really care for it after the third look, while you DO care how well the program uploads the skins ( and since those are all generic FL skins - unaltered - it doesn t take that long )
about the tailfin. - well, i used a skin that shows multiple modules and platings instead of a seamless chassis. - its mostly about taste there... - i can understand that some people don t like it much. - its not the aesthetically best solution, but it looks more like its a utility ship ( which military vehicles are - in a way ) - instead of a highly polished design study.
I can only assume from your posting them separately, that the 2 forward guns do not count as the 4 other guns that it can fire forward.
Considering that I guess it having low manueverability / armor is decent enough.
I am a bit curious about the twin cannons though. From the screen they look like Justice MK1's. I'd prefer that got replaced with something more deserving of a gunboat ship, such as..... dare I? Yes, Gunboat Mortar.
Or should the proper projectile / refire rate be found for beam guns (god how many times has that been brought up?)
I would rather it be something non-generic, such as slapping two gunboat razors on those slots, i'll end up replacing them with pulse or regular turrets even if they're fixed, i could have more anti-bomber gunfire to plow someone down with.
