Ok, normally I plan threads months in advance so that everyone knows what Im talking about and can grasp my concept easily, but I didnt have time for this one as Im training for a big shooting event. Now, I'm not sure where on earth this thread will go as I only have a rough outline in my mind. I'm thinking two or three questions that I need answered as well as incorporating your vital opinion as well. As we all know freelancers are able to fly gunboats and what I was thinking of doing recently was retiring my mining character (ie: he's getting old and he wants to move into a ship so that he can do a different sort of business). I was thinking of opening a bar on a prison liner. But this bar will move around Sirius doing dirty deals with factions and also trading in lawful goods (ie: the ship looks like a peaceful traveling bar but in actual fact its a cover for the dirty dealings).
Now in order for this prison liner to be able to move throughout Sirius I need an ID that will allow it. I instantly thought Freelancer because they can almost anywhere and also it is a good neutral ID for when I am trading in illegal goods. I looked on the ID and found that I can't fly prison liners but I can pilot gunboats.... It doesn't really make sense to me as gunboats are a lot more powerful then prison liners and prison liners are virtually only good for RP (absolutely nothing else apart from trading and even that is hard). Now a prison liner fits with all of the requirements on the ID namely the cargo (ID states that no vessels over 3800 can be used and the prison liner has 3300). So I'm wondering why a freelancer can't pilot this vessel. Now for the questions and then you can post what you think of the idea:
Q1: Is there a better ID that I could use in order to achieve my lawful/unlawful bar?
Q2: Should I try and submit a special role-play request in order to do the above?
Q3: Do you think that the freelancer ID should have prison liners incorporated into what a freelancer can pilot?
Q4: Do you think I have any chance of getting the Prison Liner added to the Freelancer/Mercenary IDs?
If we incorporate the Prison Liner into the Freelancer/Mercenary ID I dont think we will see capital armor 8 Prison Liners scurrying around because they are just so dam useless that it would in fact impede on their one ability to do something which is trade. I really cant see any harm into putting this fantastic ship into the ID. Please post your ideas and the answers to the questions.
It would require a Special RP request, since Liners are their own class of ships now and heavily restricted. That said, if you're going to file for Special RP, you could use the Civilian ID. Makes the most sense, in my opinion.

The civilian Id is only allowed to be used up until level 40 I think. I was trying to go with the option that would get me the least amount of pm's saying that I can't do this and that. Also, I can understand restricting something powerful like the pilgrim and the lux, but the prison is hardly powerful and almost useless...
Civi ID is no longer rank-locked per admin ruling. It cannot use anything with more than 300 cargo though.

Freelancer ID would indeed be the best bet for your ship, but you're right, it doesn't let you use anything over a gunboat...shouldn't let anyone fly anything over a bomber in my personal opinion...
' Wrote:Q2: Should I try and submit a special role-play request in order to do the above?
Would probably be your best bet, but be prepared to wait for a while for it to go through if you decide to go this route...like a week or more.
' Wrote:Q3: Do you think that the freelancer ID should have prison liners incorporated into what a freelancer can pilot?
Again, refrence to my opinion on the Freelancer ID, nothing over a bomber.
' Wrote:Q4: Do you think I have any chance of getting the Prison Liner added to the Freelancer/Mercenary IDs?
The Civilian ID no longer has a level limit, but it's normally limited to only civilian fighters and freighters, and isn't allowed to attack anyone except in self defense. For a purely RP civilian-owned retrofitted prison liner, it seems like a good choice. It would require a Special RP request, but so would a Freelancer ID.

Well that's nice to know, I didn't know that. Thanks.

Q4. Probably not.

Don't worry, I'm on school holidays, I've got two months to wait. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions in my threads. If that's what you think, that's fine by me. I may not have a very good chance of getting the Prison added to the available ships for freelancers and Mercenary's but I can have a damn good crack at it can't I.

I really wouldn't want to waste their time on me so do you think that an Orbital Spa and Cruise ID would work? The RP being that this particular vessel was bought from Orbital for the purpose of an independent bar but it is still licensed to them as the party that bought has yet to pay it off?
I know your goal is to be neutral, but the junker id allows prison liner and would open up most of sirius space for you. It would be easier, but may not be exactly what you want.

There's a severe lack of ships which can be used to transport humans as it is. To further restrict the few which could be used is bollocks, particularly in terms of the prison liner, which is outclassed by many transports. I'm not happy about this ID change in the slightest, however, I think the case is/was, that SRPs for liners are generally accepted.
