Well I guess I am stuck. I have money to burn but I can not buy any ship with my ID (mercinary) that is better than the pirate transport that I got.
here is a suggestion to the problem (the unmarked container transport) let kusari dump the ship to civilians.
Increase hull plating a bit and drop cargo cap to 3800. So I have something to look forward to.
The C-trans fills a role in Kusari, and I dont think the balance devs need to go start changing ships stats cause you want a better ship to work on a Merc ID of all things. The Ctrans will not be changed. Go fly a Big Dragon, or a P-trans, or a BW trans.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the more "loose cannon" IDs can't use the Container Transports.
With great power (drain) comes great responsibility.

I see what you did there.
I have always though that the cargo restriction on mercs/freelancers/other indie IDs were fairly misleading. The largest ship they should be flying is the Border Worlds transport, and that has a hold of 3600. There are no ships with a hold size of 3800. Unless we're going to get 3800 hold transports in 4.86, I think that it should be dropped to 3600 to avoid confusion.
yeah... so currently my advancements end with the pirate transport. Its a shame we have no variety for mercinary ID'd ships. Fine drop the cargo to 3600, but then drop it across the board for all ID's that currently allow 3800 cargo. ( if you haven't checked, Its a long list ). Tell me why we need fifty plus VHF's when eagles are open to every one yet I need to stop at every corner and answer to people why I am in a pirate transport.... sigh.
As to your question about what I do with it? I rp with it, use your imagination.
Here is one example:
The ship is rented out to shady groups for cargo hauling.
If you are still curious give me a holler in game or ask Liberty navy or hackers or rogues or Xenos etc, what [\JG/] does.

...and what role is that? and why can't that role be required by the mercinaries? we do not have any caps, why cant we outfilt a container transport to fit our needs?...while you are at it, do tell me how would bretonia act if I jostled around in Bretonia in a Big dragon and a merc ID ?
Just an observation, almost no one flies a 5k cargo ship for rp purposes now a days. Its all about the money and how much can you make it by hauling the maximum load. May be I should take the advise of my friend above and just find an ID that fits my needs and show the big fat middle finger to the rp aspect of the game tsk.. tsk.....

Guilty as charged. I need money to run my characters, and I need to save for future projects.
My point and thanks for replying and acknowledging..... may be admins should add stipulations of flying a more that 4499 cargo ship. You need to have two escorts on your money runs.
Cause right now I think all 5k cargo ids are a sham for "I need ma money biatch" ID.
Hence the irony of the situation where people are figuring out what restrictions can we apply for id's that allow smaller ship sizes.
I'll put my hand up and say that I'm trying to roleplay having a 5k transport. I don't actually remember buying it so I'm working around a Junker somehow getting her hands on a Bretonian Shetland.
A gateway IFF and ID'd Shetland randomly showing up in Malta orbit chock-a-block full of superconductors with a Junkess behind the wheel... took some explaining.:)
