I will try to summarize the activities KNF would like to play with the mod-written war.
1) Supply logistics simulation: Convoys are currently running through western Bretonian space hauling Dueterium for fleet fuel supplies. These convoys are comprised of Samura and Kishiro-tagged trading vessels who have been contracted by the Emperor to supply the fleet. Enemies of Kusari are encouraged to attack these traders with fighters or gunboats. Naval forces fighters or gunboats will escort these traders and engage hostiles only when attacked. Kishiro is running its contract operations out of Nago station in tau-29, a prime target for hostiles.
Conversely, KNF will be actively hunting down and intercepting traders using tags/IDs of Bretonian companies: BMM, Gateway and Planetform using the same ship limitations as above. Zones of interception will be limited to the Taus, western Bretonia and borderworlds surrounding Kusari core worlds. Of particular interest will be the BMM base in Tau-23, which will be hit regularly in an attempt to disrupt Bretonian raw materials production.
In the future you may see these Kishiro and Samura transports moving military vehicles into the warzone, preparing to invade Harris, same engagement rules apply here as well.
2)Fleet battles in the Taus: following the war being fought by NPCs in Leeds and Tau 31, KNF will engage all BAF or BPA IDd ships in the Taus with up to and including Battleships. Currently there are no plans on engaging targets in Leeds (even though there are NPC chimaeras there,) but the possibility exists for that escalation if the current scenarios work out well.
3)Viewing the war in the Taus as one of 2 fronts, western front against the Bretonians, northern front against the Outcasts: Though a level of tolerance and understanding exists between IMG and Kusari, Kusari will view the Bretonians as their primary concern and let the IMG deal with the Outcasts. Therefor KNF will only enter tau-37 in pursuit of Bretonian targets and will not coordinate with IMG units against the Outcasts.
We are brain storming for other activities currently and this post will be updated if we come up with something else.
While this all sounds great, I'd like to remind you that Gateway is NOT a typical Bertonian company;
For one, we are not liked by the BIG bertonian companies, like BMM and Bowex and we don't like them back... Bowex has made sure Gateway doesn't get to work for the Bertonian government their partnership with BMM has meant if your a big company in Bertonia you pretty much have to use Bowex for shipping your goods or you lose the friendship (and cheap metals) of BMM
Second we are very close allies of IMG, and handle most,if not all, of their shipping in the tau systems. Also recently Gateway formed an external arm, GEO, which is working with IND to work on inter-house trading agreements and to tap new growth markets all over sirius, so wouldn't these agreements be seen as valid? It's ok and understandable if it's not but still would be good to know the real reasons.
So I'm a bit confused as to why Gateway shipping would be attacked outright? Again don't get me wrong... while this sounds great and would probably work great (on paper at least) I don't think you thought about the RP of Gateway.
You can take the above statement RP or OOC I would pretty much say the same thing from both perspectives.
This next part is OOC for sure tho;
OOC:
One of the reasons Gateway was chosen as our npc corp was because they are a small company that doesn't go with the status-co, who have links to independent companies like IMG (and now on the player end with us being allies of IND another "independent" company). We done this hoping to stay neutral in the current NPC war (at least with GEO anyway), but if you can explain why we can't stay neutral I don't mind RPing not being allowed in Kursai space, or even having to RP confrontations, smuggling, running away crying to the media about heavy handed military patrols ect
I just think it doesn't fit the NPC alignment of Gateway allows you to openly attack Gateway shipping IF your trying to stay friendly with IMG... just my thoughts tho:)
Does Gateway not pay taxes? Are these taxes not used to fund the Bretonian war effort? We will not willingly aid our enemies! When the war is over, we will reconsider, but until then, Bretonians are to remain out of Kusari territory.
Further, if the BSG decide that this ultimatum is too strict, we will speak with them about these concerns. But House Kusari will not stand down from this. The rule has been set down, it is your choice to follow it. Be aware, however, that we will open fire without warning if you are found within the core systems.
OoC: Yeah, I had observed that, so I just kinda... added on to it. Gave it a voice, if you will. I have nothing against Bretonia personally, but, y'know, duty calls.
Thats some interesting information Raven, thank you. I believe each house has a range of corporations that have varying levels of political favor within their own cultures. I was speaking about this with Mal the other night.
Not to wax political or anything, but look at two American companies: Microsoft and Haliburton.
One of those companies has extensive government clout, the other has extensive international clout. I believe the freelancer corporations are arrayed in a similar spread of alignment and could possibly be viewed differently by the world at large.
Harlequinn is right though: weather the company actually likes the government under which it operates, it still supports that government by contributing to its economy and paying taxes.
I don't fully understand the relationship between Bretonia and IMG. I've heard some people say that IMG is the reason Kusari and Bretonia went to war, but with Kusari rumors I get no such information (mental note to head up north to pump the bars for info.)
I'll think about the Gateway situation some more...
Kusari - Samura
Bretonia - BMM
Rheinland - Republican
Liberty - All of the 'Big Three' (there are four) companies
All others have varying degrees of alignment with the houses, some small amount, some decent amounts. But for the houses, those above are the ones that would stand by the house no matter what.
True, true, but if a Kusari company wanted to trade in Bretonian Space, no matter the degree of 'loyalty' shown to Kusari, what would Bretonia do?
My guess is blow the traders up. I mean, back in WWII, would America have contracted a German corporation, or allowed a German company to actively trade with American companies? I think not!
But I could be wrong. Humans are often variable, despite what some of us (Kane!) might think.
