I was looking for a way to strafe using the mouse. You hit some button on the keyboard and then the mouse do strafe instead of the normal movement.
My idea was to use the W button that, when holding, should be able to activate strafe on the mouse. Its near the tab button that I use for afterburner.
Is possible to do that?
It will not work anyway, Freelancer dont recognizes two keyboard buttons being hold at the same time. I tried to use afterburner while holding 1 for shooting with a chaingun, only one of the two buttons worked.
Also, you will find that mapping more combat functions to the mouse will make you aim worse. I've done it, and it was no good.
I ended up mapping goto, map, aft and the normal functions to the mouse. But i use the tab key for aft instead. mouse only when i cant reach tab with my left hand.
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
F wolf told me to look at this.. so i'm looking at it.
This is a strange way of controlling a ship, and it would require some special programming to work in openlancer. I would guess mapping your strafe leftright as shift+mouse x axis and updown as shift+mouse y axis.
Well, not if you played Freespace for example (anyone remember the Shivan fighters?) or X-Com: Interceptor for example.
