Since when is landing on your Home Planet while you are being shot at lame? That is a normal human instinct - run away when you are in danger. Actually it is lame that you attack their Home Planet/Home System after all.
If there is a word which needs to be banned from Discovery, then it is "Raid". That sounds so WoW-ish. There are so many words you could use instead of that "Raid"
