The thing is, you can't really get into a shield bubble. That goes for the attackers as well as the defender. The shield behaves like a solid object. It is possible you would be able to move freely inside the shield if you were inside at the moment of activation. The enemy wouldn't be able to touch you until the shield was down. Flying inside the bubble wouldn't work - you would just collide with it.

Of course, it couldn't be a simple mine. Something with a shield ... That part would need some inventing.

The only way to get inside a shield bubble is to use /stuck, and that's not really going to work in this situation is it...

On-topic: I like the idea, if it's implementable. Though I'd also like to see a short range, low refire, low damage, high velocity weapon like a "railgun" to replace the cap solaris. THAT would be cool.

Like the BS razor but more for effective for taking out fighters, and like the razors insta (or nearly) kill a fighter standing still long enough. While the razors can be fun keeping your mouse on that beed until a bombers goes down is more annoying than anything else.

This sounds like a great idea but as stated I'm not sure if it's possible I always thought the shields just absorbed hull hits as the shield goes completely around the hull or on rather.

Great idea, really ! I would totally love it.
One thing, though, what would you say about phasic projectiles for bombers ? Weapons that would do a certain amount of hull damage on a shielded cap - way lower than a normal torpedo (or gun) but still, it would give a tactical advantage in some situations.And it would add some diversity to torps.
See Sins of a Solar Empire, or even Mass Effect.They have that kind of stuff.
Such torps would be a good counter to that shield bubble thingy.

Perhaps we can get a timing feature? I mean example: support ship drops sheild bubbly thingy, 5 seconds later a fighter moves close to it and the sheild activates around the fighter...win? But could that be done?! O.O



In this case the sheild bubbles hitbox or whatever is temporarily ....fly-through-able (Ran out of advanced words to use today) Win?
