Hey all. I've been roleplaying a 'pirate' called Radulf.Livius lately, and already I've run into a problem. It's much too early to even pretend to ask for a special request, but I thought I could ask for advice.
The general philosophy is that he tries to convince anyone and everyone not to enter whatever jump hole he's currently guarding. InRP, he's not too violent. Usually, after ranting about dangers and instability, he says something pretty much like "Well, if you're intent on suicide, mind leaving me, say 500,000 credits before you go?"
People have refused, and he's yet to actually fight. It's more fun to then torment the rest of the system about his angst, having let someone kill himself. But he may fight, the violence is in his history.
The thing is, I can only see one way to make demands, and that's with a pirate ID. But his violence strategy is pretty much self-defense. This leads to a problem--his rep with the police is permanently hostile, yet his rep with outlaws is constantly becoming more hostile. I understand, a pirate is a pirate, but, for example, last night/early this morning he was in Leeds. The pilot I stopped called the police, but all they saw Radulf doing was informing a pilot of dangers in jump holes and shooting down all the Mollys that spawned. (In their defense, as the response force in question was a player, they actually thanked him for his civic duties.)
Is there any way to pull off this RP in a different ID'd vessel, so that the police could at least be neutral towards me when I've killed enough outlaws? If they're called and they catch me pirating, sure, they should be hostile. And if they have proof that I ever do pirate, there could be a bounty on me (I imagine it'd be low priority). But for now... I can only land on Freeports (and not even in Magellan), so I'm having difficulties. Any help would be appreciated.
The Junker ID can give you that bit of leeway, you just have to be careful about how and where you play "pirate" (that is pretty much what you will be doing if you make that demand for money) because you could get whacked if you are caught and then immediately proceed to dock with a lawful base, especially with loot. You must also consider the official Junkers as they may not take too kindly to your pirating, although if you roleplay it appropriately then they may not mind so much. On the other hand, Junkers will use jump holes a lot and would be more likely to suggest that their being unsafe is pure nonsense.
When i read your post my exact thoughts were similar to Mere_Mortal's.
You can safely try that RP with the Junker ID, while it limits you to the systems where we can pirate.
Also i'd like to remind you that if you get in too much conflict with the pirate groups or the police we will probably have to contact you about the issue. Until that time feel free to use our ID.
Assuming the location restrictions are: not in any of the systems listed in the Admin Notice: House Space thread, I think I could deal with that. It seems the best option. Until I piss too many people off. I haven't seen too many junkers yet...
If you want me to keep you posted with rep changes or anything, to make sure I'm not using your tag in a way you massively disapprove of, let me know. Otherwise I'm considering it allowable to have it, and unless/until I ever have grounds to try a special request. Thanks!
I don't think you need to give us notice on you rep status' if something grave would happen the other factions will most likely contact us. So just have fun, and welcome to the "family".
