Like what Ivan said, I'd imagine the Gaians are with the Corsairs for weapons (they did have the best ship back in vanilla, although Gaians may not necesarily have used them), and the Corsairs probably need them in order to turn their own planet, Crete around so that they can start producing more food, thus increasing their population, which then leads to the the balance upset between outcasts and corsairs (favouring the corsairs), thus allowing them to win the war.
In all, its a survival alliance (the way I see it) for the Gaians (atleast until they get more popular support) and a long term victory plan for the Corsairs against the Outcasts.

It was a joke Teschy, and as lindburger said - that's that.
Also, Corsairs arent there to plunder, Corsairs want to Conquer Cambridge. Actually if you ask Elders and high ranked of Corsairs- Cambridge is already our system as well as Omega 3.

Realistically though, they doomed their chances of gaining popular support in Bretonia.
Supporting and allying with the two main enemies of a house, that the public hate and despise, in an attempt to gain popular support?
The alliance to Kusari and the Corsairs is dooming the Gaians to failure in their quest to 'save' Bretonia and various planets etc. Whilst they are also going to get their asses kicked by everyone once the war is over no doubt.

They mostly had support in Cambridge, which I would imagine remained because unlike the general public, very well educated men and women do not fall easily to government propaganda, no matter how true it may be. Their stance on Corsairs, I do not know.

We would also like to conquer Planet Stuttgart as well, yes.
But the Gaians siding with Kusari in the war i think makes sense, afterall, FL is based on RL cultures, Bretonia being based on industralised Britain, who wanted to build factories left right and center, mine all the coal the earth had and burn it to make power, goods and money, and to let the world burn in the fires of industry (reflected rather strongly in planet Leeds), then we have Kusari which is based on fudal Japan, a culture that had a very great and deep respect for nature and the world around it, mainly steming from their religious traditions (evident in their lack of industrialised planets, such as Leeds, Texas and New Berlin/Munich). And as i see it, Kusari and Bretonia are baisically a more modern equivilent of those historical cultures, with roughly the same values and ideals asthey had. If i were a Gaian, i know who i'd side with.

At this point, you could pretty much argue Kusari started the Gaian movement to culturally convert the Bretonian people couldn't you? :/

You could if you wanted, but i think that they are nothing more than a conveniant tool in the Kusari war machine, seeing as Kusari has not industrialised any of their planets, and Bretonia has poisoned Leeds to an extent that the polution has drastically shortened the life span of the people there, it would be easy to see why the Gaians would take the sides that they have.
And seeing that large ammounts of minirals have been discovered on Gaia, minerals which would greatly help the Bretonian war effort should they be mined, it would be greatly in the intrests of Kusari to make sure they dont get the chance to mine it, cue the Gaians.
