A tiny bit of background: I've played a lot of games over the years and thus visited a lot of different forums and online communities. But I have NEVER in all my life seen anything as pleasant as Discovery, ever!
The forum rules are much better than in other communities. No leet speak, only English, excessive use of smilies is looked down on. It's paradise. I've not even logged on to the server yet, because the forums are such a joy to use. I will get there though.
And I don't expect things to change when I finally make an account. From what I've read, the general gameplay rules are common sense. It's just the RP part that I'm reading up on and have a little difficulty getting my head around, but I'll get there eventually.
But I really wanted to say 'thank you' for doing such a great job at keeping this place a sane part of the Interwebs and for spending so much of your free time doing it. Keep up the good work!

Welcome and welcome. In game, the situation is not so ideal, but everything that can be done is being done.
Sadly, there'll always be people who don't play by the book, but most of us -are- trying.
I'm glad you have such a nice attitude, I wish others were like you.
Good luck in the game, mate, and if you ever need anything, just ask on the forums.

Better stay out of /f/lood then;).
Otherwise, you're welcome. As Swift said, ingame, not everything's as great as you might think, but get together with some good roleplayers, maybe join a faction or hang around Gallia when the GRN's around [/shamelessselfpromotion] and I'm sure you'll soon make a couple of friends and learn to enjoy the game as well:).
It's very nice to see some positive feedback of this sort, and we are very happy that someone appreciates how different this community is from other, less healthy, parts of the Internet.

Thank you. True, there are some bad seeds. My first 15 minutes of play-time was filled with 'lol', 'thx', German and blatantly OOC stuff. From basically everyone. But I won't judge the entire playbase from 15 minutes in Pennsylvania.

I suggest you avoid Omicron Minor, All of Liberty, Omicron Gamma and Omicron Alpha.
Those are hotspots for lolwut idiots, but filled with some awesome RP too.

Liberty in general is where all the newer people tend to congregate before they go out and explore the rest of sirius, so you will allways find the most OORP chat and behaviour there.
Also, very good to see someone have such a nice attitude!
