After several days of relentless slumber, Logan had undergone major physical as well as mental changes due to the injection of Liquid Cardamine that the Doc had given him. He was convinced now that in conjunction with the pending investigation, he was forced to exit the borders of Liberty in order to avoid their jurisdiction. Barrier Gate, a place where anyone can come and leave as they please, fulfilled Logan's safety requirements.

The comm screen flickers on, and David Hale appears behind his desk, smoking a cigarette, it's thin trail of smoke rising ponderously upwards and out of shot. He looks tired and worn, thin in the face.

Couldn't have done it at a worse time Logan... I've been talking with your mother, she doesn't know what to do about you, so I'm doing it my own way. I've informed the Navy, LSF, police and so on, to bring you in... You're probably not gunna be coming in of your own accord, but that's your choice not ours.

He puts his cigarette out carefully and straightens his back in the chair

Am I going to come and see you? No... You can reach me on my private comms if you need to Logan, but you've disappointed me. I invested a lot of time, and energy and effort in you. You could have been the best of us Willows... If you want to get off that drug, then I can arrange that for you. The rehab facilities on manhattan have been making some huge leaps and bounds in... He sighs and the small smile he had for a second drops.

Look, Logan. If you were in trouble, you could have come to me, or your mother, or even MacTavish. They all know why you'd stayed in the Navy so long. They understand it. It's not the trust I put in your mother that caused that to happen. We all saw something in you... You really do want justice. Shame you can't accept it for yourself...
