Err... what? Let me put it this way: they're not even aware there are others like them. You as a player do, but in-character they do not. Besides, how are you going to call in someone whose whereabouts you don't even know of. Who knows where they are by now...

Quote:Now, my question to TerminatorX (post is mostly for him anyway) would be: what do you want? Do you seek to gain something practical out of this debate or you just debate for the sake of it? Because if there is no actual intention the whole debate is pretty useless as far as I'm concerned. I'm a practical person, I try to stick to things that "just work", so naturally I ask if all this has a purpose.
no uhm... actually..
I saw this video long ago and when I watched it, it was litterlay screaming in my face:
NOMADS DID IN SOL ALREADY WHAT THEY TRIED TO DO IN SIRIUS!!!
Everything points to it. The senseless neverending war, the nomads showing up exactly after the last coaltion/alliance battle, and the nomad strategy outlined by the Order guys ingame.
Thats pretty much it. I simply think thats what the people who made this video were trying to say. They werent trying to tell you something about time travel and stuff. They took this video out of the release probably because they didnt want people to know about nomads before hand. And the time travel thing just seems like a reference to the borg in statrek first constact. Except that that nomads would have killed earth before humans went to space if they had time travel. Thus that theory doesnt make sense.
You know? Thats all. To say that is all I wanted.
Ok I realize by now you and Sprolf must be some nomad bigshots on this mod. If you prefer the time travel thing... ok... go with it. I just dont think thats what the original freelance nomads were like. But oyu can do what you want really. I was talking about the freelancer game and the video. THats it. I wasnt trying to force this onto oyu. This thread is about that video, its not a "nomads must do that on discovery" thread. If Sprolf doesnt want to accpet my theory like I dont accpet his ok... what does it matter to you?
What do I want? I'm discussing what I think this video means. I like freelancer a lot, and I thought a lot about this while I was playing it for the last years, on vanilla and on several mods.
Anways...
I just re-read the lore.
Nothing about time travel, nothing that says nomads couldnt have been in sol. At the end in the faw it actually says that nomads were all over the universe, not just Sirius. So its kinda strengthening my point more, imo. Whatever. Sprolf, if you want to point me to what you acutally meant, feel free. If you dont want to... doenst matter...
I don't have a Nomad character.
I'm on Order High Command, if that helps...
I've already told you what I meant.
Your question about Nomads being in Sol is pointless because its answer is a well-established fact...
And that clause at the end of the Lore was added to justify the Suncrusher... still makes no sense.

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
Thanks Boss, that was a useful and interesting post.
Where did you get that?
I didnt find that linked where the nomad lore was, or I missed it. Is it linked anywhere?
Anyhow, this thing does talk about "Sirius" being the nomad birthright, while origninally the nomad lore (thing about nomads being in several places in the faq) and the video dont suggest that its only Sirius. Maybe the devs took it out of the freelancer canon while they took it out of the released introduction video.
I still think my "one will prevail in the end so better cut out the competition while you still can" theory makes more sense:P
I'd assumed that was part of the Lore, my bad.
That was written by Chris "7Crows" Todd, the guy behind most of the concepts of Freelancer. It's available off of his site, his name and nickname should find it via Google for you easily enough...
