I understand the trader in question was being abusive to the pilot of TBH ship and was smuggling contraband.
This is an exceptional circumstance and confusion is to be expected. In future, neutral parties should be asked to desist from attacks if the situation is unclear, then an investigation should be carried out.
I appreciate that as the unlawful trader was docked he/she/it couldn't be scanned: obviously the trader persuaded Typhoon that they were being attacked by a pirate.
I believe all sides of this difficulty behaved reasonably with the exception the smuggler who is guilty of smuggling and perverting justice (re giving false statement to enable crimes to be committed). In future the KNF will not be so easily used. If the trader's name is known, it is to be entered into the KNF's criminal database with status 'wanted' with a 4 million credit fine outstanding (to be delivered to KNF coffers). Of course, TBH may exact their own compensation in neutral space as they see fit.
Nova PG forces again entered Kusari space today. A small force of fighters, assisted by one BDR fighter were detected on long-range scanners by Ensign Kasai. He reported same to XO Kilo on the Heikiko_Maru, the KNF's noncombatant Armory vessel in Hiroshima.
One fighter (Raven Steel, or Steel Raven, sorry) was engaged by the Kasai in Kyushu, and was damaged.
A small =LSF= force, consisting of one Gunboat and three fighters, contacted XO Kilo, and inquired if the KNF needed assistance. The leader, on vessel Eagle(CO), was asked to delay entry into Kusari space until further intel was obtained.
The balance of the NovaPG and the BDR unit were then observed by XO Kilo entering Honshu, and he contacted me at Yokohama shipyard to investigate. the XO had also given the LSF squadron permission to enter Kusari and assemble at Planet New Tokyo. The gunboat Chijin proceeded there and made contact with the LSF squadron. Another LSF vessel, the Cruiser Chancelor had also joined the group unexpectedly, and was directed to withdraw, as he had not received permission to enter Kusari space previously. (Comms mixup reported later by the Eagle.) The Chancellor complied.
Several other vessels. The "mercenary" Archangel., The BSG fighter Panzer, and two unidentified Omni Industries vessels were also observed in the area, but were requested to stand down as they had not requested permission to engage. All complied to my knowledge.
The combined LSF/KNF force proceeded towards the Honshu gate, and discovered that the NovaPG/BDR force had entered New Tokyo. The forces engaged each other near the Honshu/NT gate.
The KNF Kasai was forced to disengage early.. (ate his own mine again) and withdrew. The LSF squadron fought valiantly in support of the Chijin, but were slowly reduced to one remaining fighter, the Chimaera. After a prolonged and furious dogfight against superior odds, the lone LSF fighter was also damaged and forced to withdraw. By this time, the BDR unit had disengaged due to transponder issues, (...Lib Police or Navy tagged...?); and two Nova PG fighters remained. They eventually bested the Chijin with superior tactics, altho the Chijin was hampered by systems failures. Bots/bats would not deploy (didn't even try..), and signal delays, (actually good today.. 1150 ping!) eventually led to the destruction of the Chijin as well.
Later reports showed the Nova PG force withdrawing to Chugoku to celebrate their victory over the combined =LSF=/KNF squadron. My compliments to the =LSF= pilots for their efforts on our behalf.
Sadly,
Chijin, Lt., KNF
((OOC: Whew.. someday I'll get a decent connection again!
I tried very hard today to keep it "clean and even" in Kusari. It was frustrating trying to comm everybody with huge delays. I decided to make it "one death for KNF and LSF. Kudos to them for complying, even though it made the fight short for some of them. I also tried to get the "one death for us today message to Nova PG. I think they got it.
Also, thanks to the Chancelor for withdrawing his cruiser. Nova PG had one GB today, and between LSF and KNF there were two, though I had no hope of hitting squat with mine.. sigh. I do believe Eagle CO of LSF that there was some confusion on their part, but it was sorted out.
An after-action "chat" w/ Nova PG's leader, Intoxication, was mutually productive. Thanks, Intox. You did good in asking the BDR Fighting Chicken to withdraw due to his rep issue. Hopefully he'll be red in KNF huds soon. There was some "ooc" chat during the scrap today, but it came mostly from the sidelines.
Now I want to address the "sidelines":
Archangel? What were you doing with that big hunk in Kusari today? I didn't invite ya. Kusari has a standing rule about Caps in Kusari. You know that by now, having lurked at our Forums. Next time, ask first, ok? And if told to leave, do so. No "photagraper" crap.
Panzer of BSG. Mate, I was tied up w/ comms to LSF. You did ask, and when I finally waved you off, you complied. Thanks. Had i not been burdened w/ lag, I might have let ya get into it, but it was hard to know what the odds were, and I erred on the side of caution.. and got spanked due to it, heh.
Omni vessels. You'e apparently welcome in Kusari space, and again, to my knowledge you didn't engage Nova, nor were you engaged by them. It would be better if you had left the scene. You did comply when I asked you to stay out of it. Good on ya.
One last. Phantom Hellbound: What's with the "vulture act"? According to Intox, you weren't invited to the party either. I place you in the same column with Archangel. Just there for the off-chance of some carnage. I hope Darkstar will look into your recent appearances. He might not be amused.
Now, I'm gonna go on a limb here and open our "dump' for comments from any of the above-mentioned folk, either in the battle or observing. Who know, I could have some of my intel wrong. It's kinda hard to track things 4 to six seconds after the fact, due to crappy ping. At one time during the battle, my comms weren't appearing onscreen for a good ten seconds. This is your chance to get on ol' Mal while I sit back an shet up.
Nova PG, ya did good. It was a good day to die. Hai.))
Mal
Ooooh! Quick ooc edit here: I just read Intoxication's "version" of the battle. Bud, could you clarify who/what you mean by "fled the battle"...?

Hellbound was in-fact doing a "Vulture act," as you called it. Phantoms don't fight honorably, anybody ever say that? Doesn't matter much, though. I hardly shot anybody. I think all I did was shoot around 40 shots. Only hit you a few times, though. Anyway... DarkStar enjoys kicking people while they're laying on the ground bleeding to death...

Wish I plunged into this bloodbadth, Mal... Would have had a nice, even fight. Heh, would even have a chance to try out my newly-mounted guns...
Anywho, you know where to find Panzer or Pegasus when needed next time.
Phantoms might not have a doctrine to fight honourably, but most of them do and I know that from my own experience (the Dublin un-battle for example, was in my old cruiser).

Subject: Celine Squadron Convoy To Omega-49, 9000 deuterium units for the fleet
------------------------------------------------
I'm pleased to announce that today the Celine Squadron at full crew delivered near 9000 units of Deuterium from Planet Gran Canaria (omega-49) at Planet Honshu (Honshu) making 2 successful runs.
Long range scanners detected 4 SF unidentified vessels (rumors about 1 cruiser) between New London and Cambridge occasionally moving to Dublin and Leeds.
The Sokaku was called to assist Goro Sasaki (prometheo until name change) and the Shumushu trading vessel wth Kazuo Sugino at command.
When on our way back from the first round but still in omega-49, Goro Sasaki noticed 2 SF vessels moving to Dublin to intercept us and a fast safe plan was developed.
Cargo has priority but experienced wingman lifes and ship economical and strategical value also count as a factor in the great equation about winning a war.
So the commanding officer made a choice: <<Goro Sasaki..please..take the lead with the Shumushu and escort Kazuo Sugino and his cargo to safe, meanwhile, I will try to get some attention and lure them away from you.>>
The Sokaku jumped first to Dublin and engaged with the 2 SF vessels while Goro Sakaki was taking the lead with the Shumushu towards Edinburgh.
We can say the plan worked, SF were 8k away from the omega-49 jumphole and the Shumushu cruised to Edinburgh without problems, a SF vessels was disabled (but not destroyed) after some time of fight and the Sokaku disengaged the fight when Goro Sasaki was confirming a safe situation in Edinburgh. No hostile encounters during the second run. Only one question is in Sulu's mind during the debrief, 4 SF vessels were spotted but only 2 intercepted the convoy. Immediatly thereafter Sulu's ordered a complete control of the cargo suspecting for spy wares or explosives but nothing was found..only a big big stock of Deuterium for the fleet of the Emperor.

Because of increased raids along our southern supply line, the Imperial war secretary has began looking outside our borders for additional shippers. One such ship has already contracted out an arrangment for discounted dueterium in exchange for Imperial protection. As this enterprising individual has come forward with a sensible arrangement the KNF will offer it up to the rest of the server. Carry Deuterium to New Tokyo while any KNF/KNT is on and we will buy it from you for 1900 per ton. In exchange for the discounted fuel, KNF will provide escort when they are available.
Refer to this post for a list of approved shipping vessels:
Yacht-Adamantine, owner anonymous, Orbital Spa and Cruise affiliated, class: Lux Liner (halfway between a transport and a gunboat so it fits in the ship restriction.)
Any KNF vessel is hereby ordered to assist and/or escort these vessels as if they were Kishiro or Samura trade vessels. KNT vessels are ordered to accomodate this and any other approved trade ship with the above pricing at the drop point.
Enemies of Kusari are encourage to attack these ships as if they were KNTs themselves. Don't worry about their tags. Even if they look like they work for Spa and cruise, or another inoccuous company, they are supporting the Kusari war machine.

Subject: Helghast attack on Honshu
Hai,
I wish to report an outrageous affront to our beloved Ambassador, our Diplomatic Corp, and to House Kusari!
This day, under the guise of a "diplomatic" mission, the Helghast brazenly attacked the Destroyer Shikikan and the Destroyer deLuna, commanded by Capt. Svaldi, above Planet Honshu! Fortunately, Ambassador deluna was not aboard; as she is currently at her Villa on Gran Canaria.
This devious and underhanded attack began while the gunboat Chijin was escorting the Trader Eboksba_Maru on a mission in Sigma 19. Chijin received an alert from Capt. Svaldi of a Hellghast vessel, a Corsair gunboat (?) bearing Junker tag, engaging the deLuna on the Yukawa/Honshu tradelane. Chijin instructed the Eboksba Maru to dock, and proceeded immediately to Honshu.
Scanners were clear as the Chijin reached Planet Honshu, and Svaldi-san confirmed that the battle was occuring along the tradelane to Yukawa; the Chijin proceeded to the scene and engaged the Gunboat in support of the deLuna.
"Agent 007, now outnumbered, claimed comms problems (lag) and asked for a cease-fire. He then delivered a message that his Leader was proceeding towards Honshu on a "diplomatic mission". The Chijin then confirmed that the Helghast vessel "Planetkiler" was in Sigma 19, and immediately withdrew to contact the Destroyer Shikikan, based at Yukawa.
The Shikikan responded, and flew to Honshu, where he observed the gunboat Agent OO7 at a dead stop approximately 4 K east next to the Sigma 19 lane. The deLuna was proceeding cautiously from the site of the initial engagement, and was still at a distance of 18K from the Planet when the "Planetkiller" dropped out of the Sigma 19 lane. The Shkikan demanded to know the Planetkiller's intent, and was told that the Captain had "questions" for the Ambassador. Svaldi then informed the Planetkiller that the Amabassador was not on Honshu.
While the Planetkiller and deLuna were conversing, the Agent 007 opened fire on the Shikikan without warning. This brazen violation of a supposed diplomatic 'visit' occurred so quickly that the Shikikan could barely maintain shields, and was reduced to half hull before the deLuna could close in support. Both destroyers focused their fire on the Gunboat, which remained in close proximity to the huge Planetkiller battlewagon, taking advantage of its missile and heavy battery fire as well.
The Shikikan contacted Celine Squadron for support, but they were on a mission in Dublin, and could not aid in time. Captain Svaldi wisely withdrew the deLuna towards Akita Station, while the Shikikan continued to engage the Helghast gunboat. Once Captain Svaldi had the Ambassador's flagship at a safe distance, the Shikikan limped to the Honshu mooring fixture.
The last treacherous words from these dishonorable Helghast pigs was that they intended to send a force to Gran Canaria to kidnap Madam deLuna. As Madam deLuna also maintains honorary Canarian citizenship and residency, the Shikikan immediately contacted the Ambassador's daughter there, and a force of TAZ vessels was mustered to secure the space above Gran Canaria against any further treacherous attacks by these lying scum. However, the Helghast threats were apparently an empty boast, as no hostile vessels engaged the peaceful but valiant [~V~] defenders.
At last reports, the Ambassador is apparently safe, though strangely silent, at the Villa Uli Rouge, where she was entertaining prominent guests. A report of a violent explosion near the Villa's location was received before the Honshu deceit; but near-orbit and satellite imagery report no damage to the Villa itself.
In the Ambassador's absence, Nadir-Taisho, I strongly urge that any sighting of these comtemptible and deceitful excuses for a so-called "Faction" be met with whatever force is needed to utterly destroy them. Their lies and subterfuge in this surprise attack prove they are totally without honor, and unworthy of any consideration except a quick and fiery death!
Disgustedly,
Shikikan, Captain, KNF
