It is tradition around here that on April 1st, the Autonomous Department of Management and Interstellar Navigation staff has a party in celebration of ... whatever. During this time, many Shuvs and Zuuls know what it is to be roasted in the depths of the Slor on that day, I can tell you!
In the bountiful and endless depths of mercy found by the janitor while cleaning the toilet, it has been decided that an opportunity for the lesser mortals shall be given to ... get some of their own back upon this day. Of course, as with any attempts at roasting, the opportunity to persevere does not come without some risk.
The opportunity: Over the course of the two days mentioned, a special contest ship shall appear at random locations throughout the galaxy. This potentially includes Gallia, regular Sirius house space, border space, guard systems, Alpha or Gamma, or anywhere else that by whim the urge strikes. All that has to happen is that the contest ship be destroyed in combat, and a second ship will appear with the prize(s) to be given to the person that gets the infamous blue message against the contest vessel.
The contest vessel will NOT have admin shields, so it is possible for it to be destroyed in combat. There will be an announcement that the contest vessel is in place and which sector it is located in at the time of each of the contests. (Don't jump the gun and start shooting early, or you will be disqualified and fed to Schrodingers Cat.) Groups and fleets are more than welcome to join in the attack against the contest vessel - and may even be required. :P
The contest ship will remain in the designated sector for one hour or until destroyed. It will NOT restock on bots or bats unless it beams them in from attacking ships that are destroyed. It will not flee or use cruise, but may manuever normally in space once in position. Damage will not be repaired upon the contest ship between waves of attackers if it is not destroyed immediately. The contest ship WILL shoot back.
The prizes: There will be assorted special RP items that are normally not available without serious work. Other items, such as armors, certain guns (no admin cannons!), piles of name change certificates (which are worth 2 MILLION credits each), and other goodies will be available to the winner of the contest. If the ship is not destroyed in the hour that it is present in the system, the prizes available will roll over to the next combat.
The risk: The contest ship will not be flown by someone who excels at PvP, so there is no need to fear that. Simply fear the loadout, which will include multiple Heavy Mortars in case caps attack, multiple flak turrets in case bombers attack, and multiple Cerberus turrets just for fun - and the contest ship will have a Cap VIII armor equipped, with a regular class 10 battleship shield.
Of course, any in game RP consequences if you go into a sector where you're not allowed are on you - so if the contest ship shows up in Liberty and you bring your Rheinland bomber in - good luck. No ID violations may occur when seeking the contest ship (for example, that means no BHG| Caps if the contest ship shows up in Gamma or in house space).

Well, if he had forum access, you could ask Harcourt Fenton Mudd about that. He helped me test the loadout and weapons on a possible contest ship last night. Granted his Juggernaut didn't have any armor, so it died quickly ... twice.... (Amazing how 2 HM shots ate his shields, followed by 2 more that just WASTED his hull.)
I thought this would be something different from the usual midnight admin onslaught. I'm doing this over two days simply due to my RL circumstances - I don't know how long I'll be able to be on each night, but this should give people on both Thursday and Friday a chance to have fun.
Note also that with the time change, I'm on GMT -4 - U.S. Eastern Standard Time - and I work a regular job from 8 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday. If for some reason I have a personal emergency, I will post about it, but it is my plan right now that this occur just as stated. (No Aprils Fools joke, Ivan.)
