I picked up this little thing on YouTube today; most of the vets have probably already seen it, but those of us who aren't quite so experienced or diligent probably need to know about it for RP purposes. This, apparently, is what really happened to Sol. Guess the Soviets got owned after all. If only those pesky budget nasties hadn't showed up...
Don't you love superluminal supernova/antimatter missiles fired from improbably large devices that are transparent and yet can conceal things within itself? Ah, good times, good times.
Also, I guess the game was going to be where you're that Atticus general fellow, but that got cut? Who knows.
Blast you, Microsoft, it would have been far better if you had simply funded it properly! Grr!
Also: a supernova wouldn't do that weird 'planet's on fire' thing. It would just kill us. And laugh. Lots. I wonder if it made a black hole... who can tell?
Id just like to say that that is the unoficial intro, it was prolly cut because if the nomads had technology such as that why would the be all sneaky sneaky in sirius? They probably left it out for continuity reasons.
No, they just couldn't afford to make the continuity match. And besides, that thing was probably a one-shot deal. It takes an exceptional amount of power to make a star go nova out of the blue. I think they probably only had one of them, and decided, upon having it destroyed in the blast, that it wasn't cost-effective. They'd have had thrown all their resources into a weapon to destroy Sol, whereas several big Antimatter bombs could have done the same job. They probably just couldn't fit Rockwood into it all.
