I was wondering if we could maybe setup a stock market on the website? It would consist of all the corporations and other stuff, maybe including a black market.
It would be PHP/MySQL based (I could even program it for you!)
Players can have a virtual bank on the site, which they pay an admin say 10m credits to get 10m credits on the stock market. Players invest what and where. Admins/moderators would have full control of the players stock accounts so players could flag a stock to withdraw money, admin/mod would then give the money in game and take it out of the stock market account.
The stocks would be randomized to go higher or lower monthly, or even random server events that could trigger a certain stock to rise or go down.
Sounds like an absurd amount of work for the admins, sadly.

anyway why admin controlled? a script randomizing values which would be of an in-game item called 'Stock Share - <insert corporation shortcut here>' that have the same price on every base, but can only be bought on bases belonging to corporations that issue them would be good.
edit:
i dunno if i made myself clear enough. an example could make it more understandable.
item - stock_share_DSE
initial value - 10000 credits
day 1
a script generates a random number from an integer lets say -500 to 500 (example 265) and sums it up with the initial value of the stock: 10000 + 265 = 10265
day 2
same script generates another random number (this time -152) and that is added to the value of the previous day : 10265 +(-152) = 10113

That.
But if the thing could me automatized it could work. The best thing is that you program it and make a test server, maybe you and your friends can make test and submit back the work when you are done

I'll have a script ready to test in a couple days:)
If we could vary the prices of the "stock" commodities in-game, then why not simply vary the value of the commodities we have now? We could update prices every day at the server reset.
