The completely incompetent, inept, and totally clueless transportation wing of the Bounty Hunter Guild today made an epic - or completely nauseating, depending upon your perspective - run all the way from Dabadoru Station to New Tokyo, and then from New Tokyo to Cold Bay.
No cap ship pirates found, and the only ones we did encounter probably - nay, almost certainly - died from laughing at how pathetic we were. (Note that this does NOT include the Corsair encounter in Leeds - you Benitez boys done good. And we still sucked.)
Seriously - we had a scout. We paid attention to the scout. We still could not prevent the pirates from coming up to us. One minor detail, though - 2 BWT's and 2 Shires provided enough firepower that it wasn't us that died. Although I'm not sure how the hell we didn't ... God, we suck.
So anyway, my point is - just because pirates have the ability to USE cap ships now - in all the encounters we had today, NONE of them did. (Thank God - although I halfway think we'd have done better against them than we did against the fighters and bombers...) The pirates that like LF's and bombers are going to continue using them, is what I mean.

The change is still young, give it a few days before you make claims and conduct tests like that.
Not when they tend to be the same people, or working together. The pirate can't be expected to know (or care) how much you paid for the cargo you carry.
That said, I already see the first victim of pirating excessively in a cruiser.
Must hurt to lose 300 million credits worth of stuff to greed. I hope you admin folks have something saved up for the people who have much less costly armour upgrades equipped.
Thinking of grabbing me a Blood Dragon cruiser and taking a trip to Tau 23...
I agree 20mill might still be a little on the high side for a load of ore I would say 12-15mill for a load of ore is reasonable but the 20mill really wouldnt be that big of deal if I were hauling ore. I would still make around 20mill off the sale. But if you read my post when this happened I had Basic alloy omw to tau 23 in Kyushu to be exact. Also to be clear this didn't happen today. This happened to me around a month ago give or take a few days. Some pirates are fun to RP with others really are just looking for away to be able to shoot you. Of course there are a few pirates that have yet to ask me for more then 2 mill and these pirates are the ones that just do it for the RP and not the credits or the kill. So to those pirates keep it up no matter if your in a cap ship or bomber the RP is good and I look forward to more of it.
My problem with this change is not so much mechanics, it's going to be a fun change for once, but this:
How can one justify employing a cruiser/battleship to pirate single traders, if a cap is used to hunt down actual convoys, that's all fine and dandy, but what in the Christ is your reason for using a cruiser/battleship (of which, mind you, unlawful factions have, what, like, 3-5 cruisers + 1-2 battleships?) to park at the lane and pirate unaffiliated traders?
TL;DR: Will there be some RP restrictions applied to being able to pirate in cruisers/battleships, if suddenly, there will be a cruiser/battleship parked every other system?
Also, I agree with what many posted here: If a trader has docked (escaped), he should be exempted from 4-hour banning rule, even if in reality, the one you escaped from would be waiting on the other side as soon as you undock, in case you undock one, two minutes after docking.
