Lafiel sat cradled protectively by Sophia ever since she had passed out talking to Dagen.
Sophia regarded Silsbury with the firm gaze of authority that she would look upon a crew member that was doing something inapropriate or downright stupid yet her voice remained warm, "Why hello there Commander Silsbury it is good to see you. Alas you are being rather inappropriate some might say impolite allow me to instruct you on polite manners and appropriate address. Let us start with my sister you will address her as Lady Tarrant, Countess or by her appointed position within the foreign office Bretonian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Rheinland. Now if you are in a formal situation you may address her as Lafiel Tarrant Countess of Araluen, Heiress to the Duchy of Arundel of Cambridge. Though for this situation you can just use Lady Tarrant or Countess, as you are out in public. Now Addressing me is much more simple you may call me Captain Tarrant. You never know you could even of called us by our first names as an address if you were a friend of ours I mean I don't mind being called Sophia by my friends alas you are not nor have you shown any inclination to be friendly so Captain will do." Turning to gesture at Oliver Sophia continued, "This here gentleman is not called manservant he has a name and it is Oliver Draske. Now skipping over your education in manners you had something to say?"
Sophia listened seriously her eyes not wavering in their intense stare just as the unconcious girl that she cradled stirred back to the realm of the concious. "Indeed we will be happy to give statements Commander though you will excuse Lafiel till she is alert and concious again she collapsed and fainted I am not sure if it was due to something Christopher Dangen used on her or not." said Sophia matter of factly as she gestured at the unconcious girl she cradled before taking a sip of her tea.
Sophia was the first to speak her ton had become emotionless and serious there was only the proffesional efficient cold captain exterior displayed, "Now Sergeant Wentworth you may begin writing my statement." Sophia commanded as she spoke her statement, "My name is Sophia Tarrant I am Daughter of the Marquis of Arundel Sebastian Tarrant and Captain of her majesties destroyer the Araluen. The events that transpired here from upon my arrival are as such for some reason the Bretonian Police has allowed a terrorist to enter this establishment Christopher Dagen is an Order Commodore whom reports about him have indicated that he attacked members of the armed forces and our civilian army on the way through to omega 49 whilst commanding a cruiser. My sister appears to feel hurt and betrayed from the incident regarding dagen for attacking the Bretonian people whom she loves dearly she would of felt this way most likely as it was dagen who saved her from a group of Phantoms in the New London system. Dagen appeared to force himself upon my sister though truely it was more of an unwanted hug even though she appeared to be pushing him off of her with all her strengh alas she would never of managed it she has a medical condition that she had from a baby her weight is greatly reduced to about a quarter of your average human being and her body is not as strong though truely that is none of your business. Observing Dagen release Lafiel she swayed as if disorientated before I caught her as she fainted which leads one to believe that Dagen has done something to her that I did not observe and causes me great concern. Oliver Draske is not a gun swinging manservant as to which silsbury claims he is in fact MI5 agent assigned to the protection of Lafiel. He drew his firearm ready to protect his charge. Though it should be noted both Officers Silsbury and Calvert were present and failed to act in the arrest or aprehension of the terrorist agent Dagen. This concludes my statement Miss Wentworth."
Sophia turned to attend her sister who was waking up groggy eyed as Oliver spoke his tone was much harsher and sharp he was not pleased about such trivial games, "Well Miss Wentworth Listen well and note my every word any mistake or falsified data will result in the apropriate measures to be taken against corruption. The name you shall know me as is Oliver Draske my birth name is classified I am an operative for the MI5. I have been charged with the protection of Lady Tarrant any further details regarding my presence and assignment to you are classified as are my reasoning and response measures during my presence in this establishment. My statement shall consist of my basic observations as it is all you need to know. I entered the tea shop with Lady Tarrant we had tea as she was quite enjoying herself as the eighteen year old girl she is something that is rarely permitted to a girl of her status she ordered more items of food and tea. I observed in this time the entrance of Ex order commodore Christopher Dagen a medium - high threat and a mentally unstable target, he is classed as an enemy of the crown. Upon Lafiel seeing the target she attempted to bring him to book for what ill he did Bretonia though she clearly voiced
to all present what he was it is not sure why she did this maybe to see if you officers would do your duty and take him in." Oliver continued recounting the events from a civilian point of view neglecting facts though making sure to stab in an hammer home the incompetancies of the BPA and giving them educational advice on what they should have done.
Sophia helped Lafiel off her lap onto her chair though groggy eyed she assisted in attempting to get some tea into her. It was clear that Lafiel was shivering to which Sophia had responded by wrapping her in Her coat while she took out a medical scanner from her pocket an running it over Lafiel. Sophia sighed, "Only you would go out on a day when you were ill you silly girl." Sophia turned to Sergeant Wentworth an spoke, "As far as I can tell she only has a severe case of influenza albeit there may be something I am not seeing as I am a Captain with medical training not a Doctor pretending to be a captain. Now I do believe you will get that statement from my sister when she is better she is in no way to give one at the moment and any information she gives might not be accurate or credible as she is under the influence of influenza and fever."
Sophia got up ignoring the present people headed to the counter handing over a fair amount of money with a generous tip she commanded her words iron an unyielding, "I require one pot of English breakfast and 1000 mg of Paracetomol one glass of water and a clean tea cup." Christy noded as she scurried to aquire these things Sophia didn't wait for her she went to the coat wrack and aquired her fathers jacket brought it over to Lafiel she swapped the coat for her own helping Lafiel to stand and put the coat on her lip visibly quivering.
Oliver had finished talking to the sergeant after dismissing her his voice had seem to lose the ice at the end of their conversation. He turned to Lafiel his voice was harsh, "You young miss are in trouble you lied to me! Your still sick."
The Sergeant took notes as best she could, smiling at the look of pure disgust emanating out of the Commanders eyes before she walked off. She felt a little distressed at the comments slighting the BPAs efficiency. She reminded herself that the Bretonian Armed Forces had not informed them to change their profile of Dangen to hostile and as such, even if they did know what he looked like prior to this incident, they would not have detained him, he did nothing wrong after all.
Wentworth made her way to the back room, sweeping the curtain aside.
Two of them made a statement Maam. She said to her Commander.
Oh really? Silsbury did not look up from a hologram map of the Dublin system projected from her PDA that she and Calvert were studying, Im assuming the fabulous Countess in her immensely important role as an assistant secretary to the private secretary to the permanent under secretary of state for the Foreign Office was the one withholding information?
Yes Maam, her sister says she will give a statement in the days to come.
The Commander zoomed in on a location with a practised hand movement, Well thats not a bad thing, that girl has serious problems with her grammar and sentence structure, I havent the faintest idea what she is saying. Im assuming her sister makes a little more sense.
Yes Maam, here are the statements.
Silsbury looked up for the first time in the conversation, Im putting you in charge of this one Sergeant, write up a full report and contact the Armed Forces, ask them if this Dangen is actually to be put on the wanted list. Dismissed.
The Sergeant walked out of Christys towards the elevators feeling very proud while in the back room a conversation regarding a number of issues faced by the BPA was just beginning...
After ambling into the booth he checked briefly that the place was bug free, it wasn't that he didn't trust Christy to keep the place clean. It was that he was on edge after what had just happened and needed something normal to remind him it was really just a ordinary day after all.
When Lucy strode in a few moments later looking much more in control of herself than she did at the time of the spoon bending exercise, Calvert sighed with relief and started to peer at what she was carrying. It turned out to be a quiet detailed map of Dublin. Unfortunately before the conversation could resume a young sergeant walked and spoke to Lucy regarding the Tarrants and was tasked to get to the bottom of the matter.
His eyes remained firmly glued to the projection of Dublin as he sensed he was going to be getting very familiar with in the coming weeks, he wondered what was planned for Dublin now that a peace agreement had been reached and the main problem of Mollys effectively removed
Superintendent Benford Calvert (OBE)
Captain James Calvert of the Darrowby
Captain Libertas of the Hearts.Delight
Oliver placed down his newspaper and tea as he looked upon the twins amused that it was a secret nobody would even begin to guess just one of many little hidden intriques within the family. He looked at his wrist watch before speaking, "Well Captain Tarrant I believe it is time to get this young lady medicated and have that flu knocked out of her system ready for her big day tomorrow." Oliver Gestured for Sophia to hand over the flu filled girl. Sophia just responded by rolling her eyes as she picked up the girl and cradled Lafiel to her. Oliver nodded accepting the captain to carry her sister she was very very light after all and it would keep Olivers hands free. Oliver Picked up the Captains coat and put it over her shoulder's, "Let us depart then ladies."
Oliver spared a distasteful frown at Silsbury it truely grind on him incompetance and ill manners. He decided that it would just need reporting to her superior she obviously needed some time off to rethink her life or at the very least work ethic. Doning his trilby hat he tipped it releasing a series of credits into a tip jar on the counter as he followed Sophia out the front door to the waiting shuttle back to the HMS-Albion.
Dublin, Superintendant. Silsbury stated pointing a finger at the projected map. The enhanced area was in a sector far behind the New London Jumpgate.
We have recently become aware of another ore field that has escaped notice until this point; Miners are beginning to use it so I suggest we incorporate it into our SRD patrols.
The Superintendant nodded.
The Mollys are our allies now, The Commander continued this will allow us to pull some of our forces back; they wont want to try anything stupid and end up on the wrong side of us again.
The projection zoomed out and mapped some patrol paths spreading around the system.
And naturally you were thinking of doing something with these 'freed up forces'? Calvert spoke, not releasing his focus from the map.
Indeed Sir. With another flick of a finger the PDA switched to a map of the Omega 3 system.
Ah. The Superintendant stated.
Lucy looked up and into his eyes, I want to start patrolling Omega 3 heavily to prevent the Corsairs spreading.
Ah. The response came again.
Silsbury repositioned herself slightly, The Mollys can look after the Omega 49 Jumphole and we can stop the Corsairs at their other point of entry.
There was a sharp intake of breath from the other side of the table, Omega 3 is not an easy system to look after... Were stretched for personnel as it is. The greying Calvert said slowly.
Lucy grabbed her PDA and showed her superior the list of new recruits, Look here Sir, it appears our enlistment campaign is working, our numbers are steadily increasing.
She pocketed the device and took a more persuasive tone, You know me Superintendant, I wouldnt suggest it if the benefits didnt outweigh the negatives.
Kiri turned the otherway quickly as 3 people, a man and a woman left the shop, the man carrying a young girl, they looked very important but Kiri too scared to be seen by bretonian people hid herself, they slowly walked off into the squall, Kiri's hair was soaked, sticking flat to her cheeks, holding up her baggy uniform with her right arm she winced as a slight wave of pain from her implant wavered through her body, she quickly soothed the implant in her right arm with her left hand, rubbing it slowly staring into the shop.
Kiri looked back at the Clytemnestra, and then into the shop again. she began to encourage herself to go inside
"its alright.. its..alright, they wont hate me.. only the police come here..."
she looked back at Cly again
"its.. alright.."
Taking a deep breath Kiri took hold of the door handle with her left hand and she opened the door, the bell jingled calmly, inside the shop was cosy and warm, the scent of sweet things Kiri had never smelt before filled her nose, kiri shivered in a mix of anticipated fright and delight.
The woman at the counter turned around and a very young Kusarian Girl stood before her.
"k..k..kon..i mean... h.hello"
Kiri gradually began to wish she never tried to be brave as the woman stared frowning at her..
A brand new Hussar touched down next to Christy's. The BPA's newest recruit, Anthony Baker, hopped out and headed towards the restaurant. Looks like my kind of place! Anthony thought to himself as he approached the door. As he opened it and the bell rang he saw Constable Hidamari standing at the counter with a frowning cashier staring at her. This was Anthony's first time seeing Kiri in person and although he knew she was young he was still surprised at just how small she was.
"G'day Kiri, I see you've decided to try some Bretonian cuisine?"
The woman behind the counter was still frowning.
"Kiri, why don't you take a seat, I'll get us something." Anthony turned away and began talking to the cashier. "Righto, I saw the way you were looking at her, got a problem with foreigners? From what I've seen she is a great example of an officer. I can only hope I become like her someday. Whether you like it or not she is serving Bretonia and protecting you and your way of life. Now, could I get two blueberry teas and a couple scones?"
The cashier looked rather annoyed after being lectured by a Junior Constable, but she didn't want to lose business so she kept quiet, nodded, and got the food ready.
The hooded figure had sat in the bar for some time now. as she heard the bell ring on the door, she turned, looking at Kiri with a piercing gaze, enough to catch anyones attention. Her eyes flickered with what looked to be fire, under a bright yellow sheen.
She followed Kiri's movements with an inhuman gaze, sweeping her eyes across Kiri's face and features. She raised an eyebrow, and sat up from her hunch, turning slightly in her chair. Her eyes had gone from fire to an ice-like glaze, which pervaded a sense of calm curiousity, but still retained a firey yellow color.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
Kiri smiled frightenedly, the man seemed to know who she was, and yet Kiri herself didnt have a clue who he was. She slowly turned and headed towards an empty table keeping her arms cradled together, her small shuffling footsteps easy to recognise as she fearfuly breathed with quivering breaths, turning to look out at Cly she caught the frostbitten gaze of a hooded person, Kiri's deep brown eye's where held for a near endless second before she looked away and swallowed, Kiri pulled back a chair and sat on it wiggling into the middle, still tembling she closed her eyes trying to think of her parents in an attempt to conjer up some manner of courage. The hooded person flickered in her mind as she saw the reaper again and again, Kiri did her very best not to panic.
Now Kiri was sat down the Clytemnestra was out of sight, the smell of sweets didnt seem to be comforting anymore, and even though the place was warm Kiri still shivered, she could feel the gaze of the hooded figure, Kiri forced herself not to look, she thumbled with her hands under the table. looking down she closed her eyes and whispered to herself with short breaths.
wh...why did I come.. here... I... im not.. one... im not one of them...
the words "I want to go home, I want mommy, I want Cly" repeating over and over inside her head on a near endless loop, she was suddenly brought back to reality as the man sat down across from her at the table clanking down the plates and tea cups, Kiri forced on a smile.
