Vixen stretched her neck for a moment, then pulled down her hood. She once again revealed her feline features, and shook her head, her ears flicking back against her head and up again. She let the hood fall around her neck, and, with a sigh, removed her gloves and placed them beside her. She looked at Kiri with a calm gaze, and smiled at her.
"See? You're not the only one whos 'different' in here..."
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
The duke slammed his old fashioned glass down on the table devoid of scotch once more he suddenly slammed his fist on the table as he said loudly with a great fiery passion, "Angel's Demon's Devil's be damned!!! I shall not let anyone touch my GrandDaughters and make them lab experiments. It would condemn Lafiel to a hellish existence and you as well Sophia for what! For what I say! A glimpse at immortality! A cure to Illness and aging! An improvement to all of mankind! It matters not who or what you are you GrandDaughters of mine are human and never deserve to suffer you are my family. I shall strike down every man, woman, Nomad and Abomination that dare tries. Especially Lafiel look at her the virus from the river rendered her mind so innocent, helpless and child like she is probably the most pure being in this life and you know what humanity does as a whole. It protects children and that which can't protect itself from all that is evil and mean it harm." The Duke suddenly found his words cut short he clutched his right hand to his chest waving off his family with the other his face contorted in both fury and agony.
The Marquess dropped his tea cup it bounced off the table smashing his gaze looking up from the paper he had. His face had gone blank with shock tearing through the mask as he heard the words spoken then he watched his father in pain sliding his chair over as the Duke waved him off.
Sophia had grabbed the Dukes hand soothingly her gaze scared with concern she placed her hand into his vest examining him. Her gaze reflected the sadness as revealed to her was the true state of her Grandfathers health.
The Duke began coughing as his hands moved to his jacket pocket thumbling with a small medical hypodermic injector. He dropped it to the floor as his body spasmed. Sophia was on her feet and snatched it out of the air before it could touch the ground nobody seeing her movements just the end result of the injector being pressed to the Duke's neck and the sound of a sharp click as it was applied the medicine bypassing skin as it was injected instantly without the use of a needle. Sophia held her left hand upon the Dukes shoulder reassuringly as her GrandFathers breathing panned out once more the pain easing away as he relaxed once more.
Kiri froze, she watched as the hood slowly fell revieling the hooded persons true form, Kiri felt an undescribable sence of amazment mixed with a deepened fear, the womans pink mildly furry complexion captured Kiri, she watched as the figures ears danced calmly with any sound louder than the ambience.
Kiri wanted to ask so many questions, she shook, affraid to, the woman smiled, kiri didnt know people like this existed, she began to feel very sorry for herself "how can i be scared when some people are like this... i have to be stronger" she thought, her eyes watered a little, kiri looked at the womans attire still in amazed disbelief, swallowing she piped up enough to stutter a few words.
c..c..cool... I think..
the woman ears jumped as did Kiri herself as the Duke slammed his glass down onto his table over the other side of the shop.
Vixen looked to Kiri, blinking. She gave her a warm smile, her eyes still glowing slightly, and spoke.
"You have questions...i see it in your eyes..."
She sat forward, leaning on her arms, which remained covered in the black robe. Her claws slightly tapped the table as she set down her hands.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
Kiri -little by little- was becoming more acustomed to this person, gradually able to hold her gaze for more than a second without looking away with anxiety. Kiri continued to fidget, she nodded quietly as Vixen noticed that she had wanted to ask questions about her feline appearance.
um.... c..can I... feel?
Kiri held her focus on the cold tea before her on the table and fidgeted even more, thumbling her hands under the table evey now and then meeting Vixens calm gaze and looking down away in a mild embarrasment, for kiri loved animals and soft things, as well as the colour pink. she had seen animals in old neural net data cubes, but never in the flesh.
Kiri slowly looked up into Vixens eyes, she brought her right hand very slowly from under the table. Kiri looked up at Vixens ears, wriggling her little hand out of the sleave of her uniform Kiri gradually and cautiously extended her arm up towards Vixens left ear, lightning struck again close to the shop and vixens ears flickered quickly making kiri jump, she recoiled her arm quickly and then froze as a wave of pain slowly enveloped her arm, Kiri looked down gritting her teeth, still holding her arm up in a position to touch vixen, she slowly looked back up and extended her arm once more.
Kiri didnt quite know what to do, she placed her small hand onto Vixens head just behind her ear, and gasped in a sense of triumph over her fears and the faily odd sensation of the fur on her hand itself. Kiri smiled a big radiant smile of amazment, forgetting the pain she felt Kiri slowly massaged her hand with with Vixens soft fur.
Kiri had forgotten herself and was enjoying the feeling of the fur on and inbetween her fingers, Vixen suddenly spoke and brought Kiri back to a state of reality, she stopped stroking Vixes head suddenly
ah! gomena.... i mean... um, im sorry... it felt so soft.. i just forgot
Kiri blushed and slowly brought her hand back to her lap, it disapeared into her sleave, she smiled at vixen and nodded.. it feels really good.
um...
kiri looked up to Vixens eyes and figeted a little
The Duke sighed calm once more. Sophia had taken the flask of scotch and tipped the rest of contents of his glass back into it. He had frowned but gave no protest.
The Marquess poured everyone some more tea.
Sophia sat once more glaring at both the oldest males in thier family she crossed her arms. Her voice was stern and scolding, "Now when were you going to inform me of your health Grandfather. No father you are no excluded in this you obviously knew. I am not Lafiel who needs protection from such things I am your youngest and your strongest daughter and I would appreciate it if you did not neglect such important facts."
Both Men sighed in unison the Duke nodded but the Marquess went on the offensive, " Sophia do not speak so condescendingly of your sister. Have no ill will for her." Sophia retorted, "I have no ill for her father. I love her truly like the stars for it is like the stars we shall be unable to die. What I said is she is innocent and needs looking after ... needs nurturing and protecting for she can't see bad things or deliver the hard hits that are sometimes needed, to which I will always be there to aid her. What I am getting at is I am not like her you need not hide this sort of thing from me and I do not appreciate it."
