Vixen blinked, and her eyes gained a calm, ocean-like appearance.
"Hehe. I don't really know how i got this way...All i know is that it was a research project, on planet Gaia...Place got bombed to hell, i don't know why, but i escaped..."
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
"The Greenies huh...hate those terrorists. I'm guessing they didn't like what the research station was experimenting on. Well I think I better be going, I've spent enough time here, need to get to work. Thanks for the good company." Anthony nodded to Kiri and Vixen then stood up.
"If you ever want help learning more about where you came from, just ask." Anthony said to Vixen as he took the last swig of his tea and left the glass on the counter top. The bell rang as he exited...
Kiri sat with her hands under table, she watched as the young man left the shop, the door bell gingling calmly as he went.
She was now on a table alone with this odd woman, who had mild pink furr on her head and face, Kiri looked back at the woman after the young man had gone, she felt a little affraid without him there but not enough to cause a panic attack, she smiled a little and picked up her cup of tea, the liquid quivering mildly mirroring her anxietys, she smelled the top of the liquid, she swallowed and then brought the cup to her lips and sipped from the top, the now cold liquid ran accross her tongue, Kiri spilt a little of her tea as she she recoiled from its taste shaking her head quickly, she quickly put the cup back on the tableand sat staring at it with confusion
"why would anybody like to drink that, it doesnt taste good at all" she thought to herself
The Duke frowned placing a cigar in his mouth lighting it up he took a deep puff he took it in his hand so he could speak, "Well my dearest Sophia..... Isn't that we weren't telling you my health has been quite bad for sometime now as we all have known alas with aging body and illness of certain kinds can't be turned only held at bay.... It is finally come to a stage were at its climax it will claim me for technology can't stave off old age forever just as much as medicine can not defeat all the known diseases."
Sophia understood then and there were things were leading her voice was sober and gentle as her eyes spoke volumes of the sadness and love for her Grandad that was carefully hidden, "How long? Tell me...How Long?"
The Duke grimaced as a pain bit in his chest he hunched slightly as he regarded her for all the common opinion was of nobility that they were but cold should they have truly known a member of the nobility they would understand how much they infact loved and care how much emotion they had an kept hidden from public view. As responsibility was to judge all citizens fairly and equally they trained themselves to show no feelings and never cry over the death of a subject for it would be seen as showing favouritism.
"A week.... A month at best my dear." The Duke said solemnly.
Sophia gasped her Captains Facade...as well as the facade of the nobility fell as her hand clasped to her mouth to cover the sharp sound from echoing around the room. Tears evidently began to fall she had been unprepared for this knowing her Grandfather it would be far less than a week and a month would of been unimaginable. She move from her chair her arms gripping tightly around him as she murmured softly No... over and over.
Ltcdr Adama walked past new Scotland yard but after smelling something so inviting he decided to enter after presenting his security clearance at the gate. He entered not wanting to draw attention to himself. He orderd a earl grey tea from Christy and swiftly but silently sat down in a corner and, produced his records of his pupils in his class and he trawled through them marking their final exams.
The Duke wrapped his arms around his Granddaughter he kissed her on the forehead as she hid her face behind her long hair much like Lafiel's albeit her face was much older her hair hid the pain on her face as she sobbed silent tears. "Shhhh....hush... shhh.. it's ok Sophia... I will be alright.....I am just taking the path all things must take in the end as one door closes another opens my dear everything will be alright... I promise...shhh." He cooed softly.... his face suddenly covered like a mask as did the Marquess both men had noticed the newcomer entering the establishment.
Sophia sobbed, "How can you say that Grandfather....It's not your time... you have so much to live for... oh Lafiel is going to be devastated please please do visit her at the embassy and see her one last time. Should you pass on without seeing her it will break her...little heart the poor little girl. No no no you can't just go Grandfather.."
The Marquess stood up to block Sophia from view of the LtCdr there would be no need for him to see a ranking member of the forces displaying such emotion he thought especially not one of noble birth. The Marquess put a gentle hand on Sophia shoulder he whispered to her putting he lips to her ear, "I am sorry my dear Soph...if you need to cry some more very well and good we will go somewere appropriate if you can't hide it.... an officer of the armed forces has just entered and you are going to need to cry as I do in his presence..please my dear."
Sophia turned to look up at him keeping her face hidden in front of her father as a shield she wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her captains uniform she breathed in sharply and out again her face went blank before filling with emotion she quickly rubbed her eyes forcing the mask to reach every part of her face.... truly the only way to of notice something was amiss would of been to look her in the eyes for they hid the great sorrow deeply. She spoke as if in a chit chat tone for any surrounding ears, "I don't believe you can order me around lieutenant!... how dare you show such insolence to a ranking officer." Sophia forced a smile across her face.
"I don't care if you are an Admiral my dear daughter... you are a daughter and by far I outrank you by noble title.... besides parents get priveleges my dear it doesn't matter what age you are Captain." The marquess face had melted into a smile much more fluid and trained his smile was warm an genuine as he spoke they both broke into laughter.
Sophia and the Marquess returned to their seats around the table... Sophia glanced to the man that father had glanced around for the man he had suspicions of but didn't see him ignoring this factor she turned back to look at her Grandfather a little grimace escaped she found the teapot empty and went upto the counter for some more a new blend of tea she chose Russian caravan as she stood there waiting. Her hands automatically moved to remove the creases from her captains uniform and made sure she was looking smart she focussed on studying the various other teas the place supplied as she waited.
Upon hearing the commotion caused by the Marquess and captain Sophia Ltcdr Adama drew his eyes from the tenth exam paper to see what the commotion was about. However all he saw was Captain Sophia and The marquess sitting quietly he shook his head. Captain Sophia was sitting on the table opposite him with her grandfather. However duty calls and he quickly took a sip from his tea and returned to the paper. He sighed heavily, "How many times have I told them Cardamine is legal under 5 units. Placing a big red cross he continued marking the stack of papers in front of him. When his pager buzzed he pulled out it out and he examined the message "Ltcdr you pupils are to report to commander bridge for assignment" he sighed and sent a message " Good day sir I have recruits being told to report to you sir" send to commander bridge of the ark royal fleet. He returned to marking the exams
