The Konfliktdiamant enters Omega-11. It's an old, rusty, damaged train, that could barely fly, but it was the pride of her owner, Karen Blume, independent Unioner. As she orders her small crew around, her radio transmission relayer comes to bug her. ''Fraulein Blume? A certain Jessamine Blume wishes to contact you. Are you related in any way...?'' asked the man, always a bit too much curious for Karen's sake and sanity. ''Yes, I do indeed know her, but that's none of your business.'', she answers, as she gets up, somewhat excited to get news from her only friend.
She reaches the dark room where the radio transmitter is installed, takes a seat, and access the private channel. An hologram appears, as well. It really was Jessamine! She didn't change at all, but she looked somewhat grim, saddened.
''Hello, my dearest friend. What can I do for you, today?'', says Karen, with a grin that would've ripped most people's cheek. Jessamine looked somewhat distressed, unerved, sweaty. ''I--I... can't talk much... listen, can I ask you a favor? Take me to Duesseldorf. I'm packing my things as I'm speaking. I'm on freital right now.'' Karen got nervous, what did she do again? Was it the same scenario than with the Liberty Rogues? Jessamine then quickly closed the channel, and the hologram vanishes. Karen, stressed out, then uses the regular channel to ask docking permission on Freital to ''Free the Civilians and fill the holds with Blood Diamonds, as usually''.
Jessamine throws clothes, weapons, souvenirs, and such into her luggages. She was sobbing, as it was once again leaving her life behind her. But, the life of an Hessian just didn't fit her. She closes her luggages, and quickly starts heading to the launching pads, just as the Konfliktdiamant was docking with the station...
Ferdinand was sitting in the bar drinking vodka which was delivered by Coalition pilots to Freital. He always liked watching the Giant Sun from the bar while he got drunk. Next to him was Adolph Hessler another great Hessian who helped Gryneus win a lot of battle against the Cannibals among the Omegas. Adolph wasn't a very communicative Hessian, but at the battlefield....He was like a tiger. They were talking about their last victory with many other comrades at the table. There was Jessamine too, a beautiful leutnant. She had deep brown eyes, long brown hair with a beautiful face. She was simple but misterious.
Suddenly in the middle of the discussing she rushed out from the bar without a word. Ferdinand didn't let it and followed her to the dark room where he saw communicating her with someone, whom he had never seen before. He heard a woman' voice, which was quite similar to Jessamine'. After this conversation he followed the girl to her room. Ferdinand saw her throwing her clothes and when Jessamine headed to the door Ferdinand jumped in front of her and asked:
Jessamine bites her lower lip slightly, nervous. Did he know what was her plan? She shyly looks at him and replies with a low voice. ''I...I'm leaving. I'm done with the Red Hessian Army. I... it's not the life I wanted...'' her eyes didn't stop shifting, shame covering her face. ''My friend, the captain of the Konfliktdiamant... she's taking me to Duesseldorf. And there is nothing you can do that will change it. It has been a pleasure to fly with you, Herr Ferdinand... but this is the last time we meet.'' she pushes him asside, and keeps on walking, never turning back, somewhat sure that she would get shot. Or, she did read some sort of compassion in Ferdinand's eyes... could she be wrong? She then stops walking, slowly turns around and faces him. The corridor was dark, and the lights were shifting on and off once in a while. She couldn't read his face, anymore, and she once again begun to worry.
Ferdinand saw the fear in her eyes, but he didn't know what to say to her words, he just let her walk away. He stood there like a statue which has been here for hundreds. Then something worded in his mind what he should say, but when he opened his mouth, nothing came out. He let the only girl walk away whom he really loved in his life.
Surprisingly the girl turned towards him from the end of the corridor. The lights shined on her eyes which shined like a cat's eyes. They stared each other for minutes, while Ferdinand walked closer and closer to Jessamine. When he reached Jessamine he grabbed her hands and now a sentence left his mouth:
"I'm not letting you walk out of my life."
Then he hugged the girl like he would never let her leave and whispered something to Jessamine' ear.
Jessamine pushes him away, startled, the fear just grew in her eyes. ''Ferdinand, don't make this harder than it already is.'' Her eyes became teary, thousands of thoughts crossing her mind. Is he messing with her, just so she'd stay in the Red Hessian Army? She promised herself to never have a relationship, since it would just sadden the other too much when one would die...
''I'm sorry, Ferdinand. I took my decision. I'm going away. And no one will make me change idea. Not even you.''
She then stands straight and looks at him one last time, before walking away, hoping he wouldn't try any harder, since she feels she's going to break...
That push hurt him like boxer fist', that push broke his dream. He felt cold as he has never felt before, but when she turned to him again, he decided to give a last chance to him, before letting the girl run away.
"If you leave, I'll follow you whereever you go. I can't exist without you."
He looked scared, he couldn't wait for the answer. His mouth was dry and his whole body was shaking.
Jessamine looks at him silently for a minute or so, but as she opens her mouth to answer, her wrist radio activates. ''Jessicka? Where are you? The holds are filled, we're ready to go now!''
Ferdinand recognizes the voice, it was the same voice than earlier. ''Ferdinand... it's not this simple, I'm afraid...'' she pulls him close to give him a last embrace, but she slowly pulls out of her sleeve a syringe, and quickly stabs the needle into his back and pushes the poison onto him. Ferdinand's vision slowly fades, his legs fail him, and he starts stumbling. His last vision before losing conciousness being Jessamine leaning over him to kiss his forehead. ''That will give me a good 3 hours, at least...'' she said to herself, sweeping the tears away, before running to the docking bays.
Karen was waiting for her with a cheerful smile. ''What took you so long, Jess? Uh? You're sad...?'' Jessamine straightens herself and mounts aboard the Konfliktdiamant. ''Nothing, Karen. Everything is fine, trust me.'' Karen shrugs, she knew that she wouldn't get any infos from her before some time, like usually. She gets aboard the Konfliktdiamant herself, and orders everyone to their post. They Konfliktdiamant undocks from Freital, and now heads to Stuttgart...
Jessamine couldn't stop looking at Freital through the window as the shift slowly drifted toward the jumphole. ''Better buckle up dear, said Karen, we're going to jump...''
Ferdinand woke up with a headache. When he sits up he notices Adolph in front of him. Adolph started to ask Ferdinand what he was doing on the floor. The answer was too much alcohol, he didn't want Adolph to know about this thing between Jessamine and him, so he headed straight to his room and started thinking.
Before he fell asleep, he heard a voice which he has heard before, in the dark room. Then Jessamine mentioned a name. It was Dusseldorf. The answer for all of his questions are there. He moved to his Odin and started his adventure.
Dusseldorf is the Unioners home, the system itself is quiet and peacful. Many Rheinlander tried to discover it but none of their missions were succesful. Ferdinand was a well-known person among the Unioners and they let him to land at Duisburg base. The people here were very friendly and they invited Ferdinand to the bar. He sat down to an empty desk with his beer watching the people here. Later he heard a voice which was similar to Jessamine's. He followed it which led him to another girl. That voice was similar which he heard in the dark room, the person with Jessamine had been talking to.
He shouted at the girl. "You! Where's Jessamine?! I had heard you talking with her." The girl saw Ferdinand was angry but also she saw he was scared, that he will never see Jessamine anymore. She didn't want to betray Jessamine, but she knew that this man won't leave untill he gets an answer for his question. She looked at the man and said to follow him. She showed Jessamine' room, which was empty. Ferdinand knew she will come back and she asked Karen let him stay here, until she arrives.
