Topic split from a sanctions thread. Carry on the discussion here. Cay.
I totally agree with you there, Korrd.
Most robbers and thieves wouldn't want to have murder on their conscience (and their criminal record) in addition to their other misdeeds.
However, IMHO the same should be true for police/military.
House officals would try to capture criminals, not kill them. So, maybe there could be a rule addition saying that house officals aren't allowed to destroy criminals without any serious reasons?
Bring their shields down, damage their hull... then tow them to the nearest police base (space station or planetwise) or directly to a prison station for detention.
The criminal would have to enter formation with the officer, however, maybe he can get a signal out asking other unlawfuls for help...
If anybody shows up and tries to break them free, the "captured" isn't allowed to participate in the ensueing battle, since his ship is still disabled.
...
I think you get what I'm trying to tell you here. If lawfuls are forced to behave within RP like pirates (who aren't allowed to kill without reason - which is good!), that would certainly improve overall RP and grant chances for more interaction between lawfuls and unlawfuls, apart from just blowing each other up.
I guess this isn't the right place. But maybe there could be such a rule change? Want me to make a corresponding thread in the RP-Server forum?
Ok, please understand this is for clarification, where is this rule that pirates must give warning before attacking? In addition, what constitutes a warning? Basicly, is there a thread listing and defining said actions for pirates? I believe this is needed so all of us will be in compliance. For I have been operating under Section 7 of the latest rules, specifically 7.1 and 7.12

7.1 PvP combat is allowed only on roleplay basis. The pilot who is attacking must scan for an ID prior to the attack. Relying on general reputation status (red/neutral/green) without scanning for the ID is not allowed.
7.12 Trader ships are: freighters, utility ships, miner, transports, trains. Pirates and terrorists have a right to deal as much damage as they see fit before demanding money, but killing trader ship before demanding money is not allowed.
Attacking traders or demanding cargo is not allowed for cruisers and battleships, unless cruisers and battleship belong to Terrorist ID or Phantom ID owner.

Thay didnt just do a bit of damage, he attacked and killed ^^
Yes, I know...I ask always short of killing and if they refuse i kill em. However, this thread seems to imply ya have to warn before attacking.
Not arguing his sanction (it is just), but wish clarification on this rule. Do ya warn before attacking or can we deal damage to a point (short of killing) and then demand, or warn, money.
