Destroyers and cruisers are just about the same class ship i think.
Also ive traded for hours and hours and hours and have only one time been asked to pay by a pirate, also i can safly say ive never seen a trader with escorts since ive been on this server so i wouldnt worry.
Yeah, I think you should be able to pirate in a cruiser. I mean when a trader, has a cruiser as an escort:dry: it is kinda hard to take down a trader. Then again I am not using a single codename or nomad because I want to use my factions class 9s as much as possible.
Ive traded for hours too, I was asked for tax once, but then this battleship came and told him(corsair gunboat) that he wasnt allowed to tax.
So in my trader career of a few weeks I have made enough to fund a battleship, several large trains, 2 personal destroyers, a gunboat and lord knows how many fighters and bombers.
Fair enough, pirates are "meant" to opperate in packs and attack traders only when they are alone. But I trade alone and its safe, Its also in Omega 5, perfect if pirates dont want to go against military battleships or bretonian destroyers.
Yeah but its not our fault "the traders" if theres no pirates about?
I mean im a pirate and i dont think you need cruisers to take out a trader, i allready said somewhere else make a rule that stops traders useing armor upgrades, i dont see why people would use them anyway, i dont use upgrades for the simple fact it takes up cargo space and its all about the profit xD
I know its not their fault. This isnt about playing the blame game:)
Gunboats and bombers can take out traders. Your right, they hardly ever have escorts.
The problem is not only are their more lawfuls and freelancers willing to help traders, but they can use cruisers and battleships to do it.
Lets just imagine pirates can pirate with cruisers. Lone traders are in trouble, but if traders group up, then they can be escorted all at once rather than spread the escort about. I think if the lawfuls knew that pirates could pirate in cruisers then they would step up to the challenge, and provide bomber and cruiser escorts. Allowing for big convoys and raids as well as smaller ones against lone targets.
As for there being no pirates about, doesnt that speak of an unbalance in itself, how can there be no pirates. And if there arent any pirates, how can they possibly form groups.
There's no need at all for anything larger than a Gunboat for pirating. I've got a Talon loaded with:
4x Nomad Energy Cannons
2x [Something] del Cid
Train CD
Class 10 shield
Adv Thruster
Disco Scanner
and it does the job absolutely fine. I can take on anything except a Container Transport. they tend to fight back too well, but what the hell.
There's no need at all for Cruisers. The only major problem (my lack of skill aside) is some pilots having a second charcter in a Battleship waiting in the system, I hit them they swap to a BS, send me flying home licking my wounds, then swap back. (not sure if that qualifies as rule breaking as I'd technically disengaged the pilot to attack another member of the convoy, but annoying and as unfair as hell)
In short, anyone who honestly needs a Crusier to pirate needs to have a look at where THEY may be going wrong or take up a new profession, (but that's my opinion).
This excuse about "pirates have to fight in groups" is ridiculous. First of all, for each pirate there are ten lawfuls in the server, be they house militaries or any of our "pseudo-mercenaries" with generic Mercenary ID, willing to group against any pirate they find just for the fun of it, without any real profit in credits. Second, a lot of players are uber arrogant "pwzors" who only give assistance to their buddies, dont hail allies even when hailed first, dont talk a word when theres no engagement, and are not interested in roleplaying after all (some are interested in ruleplaying, tough, talking their ooc crap in system chat about this or that server rule), or simply thinks roleplaying is something to do in the forum only, not in the game itself.
So, it happens pirates are usually working alone, outnumbered most of the times, and outclassed as those traders are funding lawful cruisers and battleships to get the pirates out of the server. And they did it. Its such that Im not playing for more than one week. But they only did it because of this rule that prohibits pirates to practice their profession using cruisers and battleships. So its all about ruleplaying. Some uber egocentric player loses a battle, then come to the forum and talk about some rule that should be made to prohibit the situation that leaded to the battle where he lose, or then ask for nerfing the ship of his adversary. Its all about inflated egos. Do you think my opinion is biased? See my options: play a very easy, dull game with a lawful character, or play a very hard, unbeatable and frustrating game with a unlawful character. None of those two options satisfies me.
