' Wrote:well depends. low sec piracy is still big, though nowadays solo PVP is very rare. 0.0 warfare is all about pos bashing, blobbing, and **** like that for the most part, though you do get the odd supercapital kill (like our retarded alliance, who just lost like 5 titans a few week back. they were like "s'kool, we'll rebuild em in a couple months, we have the money and resources" -_-) we still do stuff like frigate/destroyer roams (we recently had a roam with around 90 thrashers and 4 coercers). hit and run tactics/grieving is also one of the bigger things working in EVE atm.
EVE is more or less pretty much 100% player controlled. the market, industry, mining, mission running, sov, warfare, etc. is all determined by the actions of the players.
Yep. Exactly why I got away from it. Back when the server was crowing about breaking 10,000 players it was fun. You could get a group of 10 friends together, and with a pack of insured rifters, kestrels, blackbirds and thoraxes wreak havoc on Vale for a day before moving on over to Venal, all the while dodging the blobs and tearing off the corners of their economy via killing rats (which had to be hunted in belts, as opposed to the entirely too safe missions) and breaking up mining groups. Those were the days, I loved ransoming cans of ore.
The scale's just too big now. You can't really do much with a small group of friends, it's all about alliances and 20-man gate camps with bubbles. I guess I didn't evolve with it but I chose not to. POS warfare is just not fun like descending on a pair of ratting Apocs with little ships and tearing them up.

i agree, tbh.
i enjoy solo hunting in my curse/crusader/taranis/rifter/purifier (stealth bomber ftw:D) more than i join in blob warfare. i contribute to the corp/alliance via diff methods instead. /shrug

Bah, alliances. They all fall apart because someone up high decides that the grass is greener elsewhere and takes everything. It's no longer about the fun and all about the treadmill instead.
Even GoonFleet was better before they became like everyone else.
When I was a trial, I spent a damn 2 weeks playing 9 hours a day and everything I've got was damned Coercer with t1 equipment and two ammar indies I couldn't fly due to its prohibited for trials!!
Played the Trial last summer.
Lots to get your head around but with a good group of folks can be really fun.
Mining is boring as hell but if you have two computers capable to game. Then Mining just becomes a side thing while your on FL or whatever.
Combat, interested not too exciting but I only had a Calardi Destroyer at the end of my trial I'd love to see though bigger battles in person.
One thing that interested me most though was the scope of the game, everything player controlled and one large server.
I may subscribe to it down the road. Most likely not though.
