So, a few days back my AMD Radeao 6700 was whining about installing a new driver. i did so and since then the resolution of my FL and WoT is all borged to hell. I miss a part of the left screen and everything is suddenly HUGE.
-dx and -dHxW dont work. Im on 1280x1024 now (dunno if I was running that reso before the driver update. I tried going back 1 driver: still borged. and FL whined something about not recognising my graphic card after the driver update.
I'm fighting something similar here, disco is told to do 1280x1024 but it insists on 1280x960 (or something similar) when I'm in space. I thought it was related to switching my monitor but I also downloaded an ATI update this morning so that could be it.
Seems like setting the desktop properties makes it at least usable. Open the Catalyst prog, Desktop Management, Desktop Properties, and set it to the desired resolution and refresh.
On the upside, I am getting 75 Hz refresh which lets Freelancer run at 75 FPS
I had a similar situation with the latest Catalyst update, space was split into vectors which drastically reduced my FPS. Just uninstalled it as I didn't actually use it to change any settings.
If you can, return to the old drivers, or get rid of it like me..?
I decided to try a complete uninstall of all ATI software, and am still having problems with the stock windows driver.
If I set the command line to either -dx or -d1280x1024 then Freelancer sets it to 1280x960. If I hard-code the 1280x1024 into perfoptions.ini it works at the correct resolution but the game goes all weird--widget layout is jumbled up, the NPC pilots that show up in the corner when they talk at you now takes the whole screen, etc.
If I tell Disco to start at 1024x768 then everything works normal and correct, although that introduces other issues (scaling, jaggies, target changes, etc.)
I dont know if this is all because of the driver change or trying to run at 1280x1024.
I fiddled with the resolution. seems to have fixed it. weird cuz the new driver changed my resolution somehow without asking me (go Microsoft) and messed everything up.
So changed the resolution by hand to its old size fixed it for me.
