I like them, And it takes a few weeks to get a battleship (heavy kind, like the kusari, rhienland, zoner and some other high level battleships)
Besides, i suck at fighters/bombers. I am a capwhore. Guilty of it. If you dont like it you can just fly your little bomber into the sun.
BTW, is the Lane Hacker Spyglass being replaced? because i swear to god if it is im moving back to 4.82.
I love it, it was my first ever battleship. In 4.82 or 4.83 idk which.
doesn t do anyting. - even if the dromedary was still the largest player tradeship with its 216 cargospace - and if battleships cost 1.9 billion credits. - some people would STILL call those that fly them "nasty powertraders" and "capwhores" and would not recognize that they earned the money by trading a long time and being present on the server. -
so what good does it do? - we have terms for "bad capital ship players" and we have terms for "bad trading people". - the price does nothing but make those that do not have the time to trade that much, but feeling that they "deserve" the same ship cause they are no "whores" feel even more misrable.
heres an idea(all faction heads would need to be admin or at least the ones who have battleships(liberty hackers ectra ectra)how it was planed on our mod(the on i ran) the faction who built or produced the ship was payed the amount and inter the leader(mabye something simmiler here could work)gave the player the ship(via a kick from game placeing him in it)
I'm simply for anything that makes flying a cap as unattractive as possible...since i'm sure the idea for admin approval for all cap purchases has been shot down by now, why not a very large monthly 'tax' for owning one?
I know that newbies see a big honkin' capship & go, "Oooh! I want one of those!" (hell, I WAS one of 'em) but I'm firmly of the opinion the the ummm...'cap pilot of the evening' stigma would disapear if they were restricted to vets w/ a decent RP backbone & <strike>minimum</strike> at least a modicum of server history behind them
Marburg, the day that happens, im going to go in my battlestar, to new york, manhattan, and kill everyone there.:)If you dont like caps GET OUT OF DISCOVERY.
Poor Venator... I miss it. It was so hot and it only got killed because its a starwars ship but it still pwns all.
Capital ships are part of Freelancer. People can complain about them, whine about them and generally be pissed about them but you have to deal with them. The word capwhore is less deserved than say, bomberwhore. That would be a more accurate representation of things.
Then again, people say Freelancer was not made for capital ships.
To which I say, stop being silly and learn to balance properly. I came from a mod dominated by capital ships simply because we didn't have the player base to fill up our bombers and fighters. Plus commanding an VSD MKI and unleashing a barrage of missiles against the pathetic MC-40s (They were so ugly..) while a giant fleet battle rages around you involving all range of ships is something that I will always love.
In regards to prices, what's the point in upping them? If someone wants a capital ship, they will get it. I fly mainly capital ships simply because I find it strange how a single lone fighter can traverse Sirius without ever stopping once. Plus I like big ships, the one in my sig is oh so purty ingame (Which is where the screenshot is from)
