If there really are concept art in the game files that indicate the difference, then perhaps everything happened this way:
1. Dom K'Vash created the Sirius Nomads, who are hibernating/learning/doing whatever they were doing before the human colonization began.
2. Dom K'Vash created another, less intellectually-blessed race of Nomads which has only one goal - that of protecting Sirius from outside threats. It's only natural to think that the guardians possessed better weaponry thus explaining why the Sirius Nomads didn't pop up systems.
3. The Nomad Guards had their attention drawn by the everlasting Alliance-Coalition war and decided to eliminate the threat. It was only a lucky coincidence that the sleeper ships were sent to Sirius shortly before Sol blew up.
This is just a hypothesis.
@Sead -- before I read it, can you tell me who wrote it and if it is officially considered as lore in Discovery?
Once you open it you will see.. yes It is official and it's part of Discovery.
And.. all nomads are made to evolve, Sol nomads were there (not in Sol, somewhere else close I guess) longer and evolved more, don't forget that humans woke up Sirius nomads before right time so they are still young compared to Sol ones.
I had written up a rather epic history of an alternate interpretation of events, but I can't find a good way to end it without giving too much stuff away (not just dev stuff*, but more personal storyline things). So I leave you with this:
Suppose that humanity's arrival in Sirius was planned by the Daam-K'Vosh. Obliterating Sol might be a way of tying up loose ends, don't you think?
*Do NOT take this to mean that the food for thought I presented there should be taken as canon, or that crazy Daam-K'Vosh hijinks are going to happen in 4.86. My timeline blurs into future events, and I couldn't find a good cutoff for it; nothing more.
The extended trailer is not consistant with Canon Freelancer, and never should be thought of as such. People have tried to have it make sense in Discovery, and Igiss has even said that Discovery Canon follows the extended trailer.
But Freelancer, the vanilla version, does not. Sol was never destroyed by the Nomads, because they were not awoken until 799-800AS by a Rheinland expedition, when they began their infiltration of the Human Race.
Forget everything you ever saw in the extended trailer, it was cut. The opening of Vanilla Freelancer is what is canon.

Wait, if we use the extended trailer... how is it not canon? I'm confused.
' Wrote:Yeah, I was going to say that Sol is not a part of Sirius.
Sirius is like 10ly or so from Sol
' Wrote:Except that, according to the Keepers, Nomads are not omnicidal creatures like the sort that would blow up a sun for no reason except to kill ****. They aren't blue message hunters in-RP.
Thanks for giving folks a laugh.
' Wrote:If the Nomads were the guardians/protectors of the Dom K'vash's left overs, why would they destroy the very systems they were charged with defending? They want Sirius intact, not a hundred blown up suns.
Whether the Sol and Sirius Nomads were connected has no effect on the present issue.
Plus if I remember correctly from reading the nomie lore (havnet read it in ages tho) the Dom'Kovash left stuff scatterd arround the Sirius sector for the nomies to find.
The Valhalla site in Manhattan
The Cardimine gras fields of Malta
etc etc
Sirius has a lotta stuff that they want, they see as their heritige.
Plus as Dab said Sirius is their 'home' turf, they want to reclaim not obliterate.
Plus I'd assume that the suncrusher device isnt easily cloaked, and the cloak isnt that effective.
IRP that'd mean that they get maybe one shot at a populated system.
After that, if theres so much of a whisper of it being detected, fleets get mobilized and it gets wiped out.
So they COULD pop systems that they dont HAVE to keep, but it'd be a risk after the first time.
Plus IRP, they are heavily out numberd (dates back to SP) hence their need to infect and what not.
Balance wise this is shown by the way keepers are over powerd, you're SUPPOSED to 'gank' them (IE 2-3 on 1) to have a balanced fight.
' Wrote:What? This is self-contradictory, to say the least. Please elaborate.
What igiss says is cannon for disco.
What the non-extended trailer says is whats cannon for vanilla
Wrong. The Sirius Star is 8.6 ly from Sol. And Sirius star is not where the action in FL takes place. Its the Sirius Star Cluster that matters. And that one is about 500 ly away from Sol...
Sol is destroyed, humanity lives in sirius, which we share with the nommies cos the rheinlanders woke them up.
the sol-destroying nommies couldnt follow the sleeper ships, because they were not equipped to do so (i.e they did not have the capacity to follow the sleepers at sublight speed). To all intents and purposes, the sleeper ships were lost to them, and the nommies returned home and hibernated again.
800 yrs later, the SP campaign began, trent lost his million credits, walker used his gravitic mines to blow the alaska jumpgate, Juni walked around in lycra, and Dexter Hovis was challenging all-comers to a race in dublin.
