Some say he is a proud member of: "The most paranoid group of people in the Community."
I've not broken Roleplay on this character, and I've not been punished as such, so what exactly am I being warned for, and how can I make sure it doesn't happen again?
All I have is a vague warning and an even vaguer* warning thread.
Ah, let me get some light into this by a little story.
Imagine a Miner who is mining in a dense asteroid field. Debris pass by the view, covering the bright sun in the background.
His operation is currently producing surplus in ore since his transport is way overdue.
Suddenly an unknown ship appears out of nowhere and rushes in guns blazing. The scared miner closes his eyes in fear to await the inevitable death and prays that it will be quick and without pain.
His longest seconds in his life just pass and since nothing happens the miner opens his eyes again, just to find all his ore being vaporized.
The miner grabs the radio and asks "Good lord, why the hell did you do that? You just made 12 miner-families starve!"
The foreigner just answers: "Dunno, was fun"
This is a sad story, since the unknown pilot just vaporized the ore for his own amusement and without any role play in it.
If he would snatch the ore since he is a pirate or bear any other ID that would make sense to steal some ore from the miner, then he would just be a thief.
Shooting the ore because he is a member of a hostile mining corporation would also make sense.
What's not roleplay about that? The IMG have continued to refuse paying the mere demands of this character over and over, he just plain doesn't like them.
But that's cause he's a bad person.
He's a Brigand, and a pirate, though not to pay the bills, he just does it for thrill of doing it.
I was going to continue and pass on a rather threatening message like a nice little nasty pirate, but said Miner just docked and logged off, so I didn't really have much else to say or do.
This was roleplay, I was playing a role, now perhaps you're not familiar with this character, or his motives or personality, but what I did was roleplay, and it wasn't against the rules.
If this miner was butthurt enough by it, I'd apologize, sure. I'd even re-emburse his losses in full. But he didn't stop for a second to hear what I had to say, or even to drop me a message like "//Uhh, that was kinda a dick move"
You just seem to have made up an excuse to warn me because you don't like the way I play my criminal, and if you're just gonna make up rules to warn and punish me by, then I don't think I wanna be a part of this community.
So enlighten me, what exactly was so wrong with me playing my space-bastard?
- To ensure work of Discovery Freelancer server; - To be fair and treat all players equally, independent of their level and faction alignment;
- Not to mix server roleplaying with server administration in any way; - Not to ignore any cases of server rules violations that are reported.
We have received a report and had to take a look into it, as we process any submitted reports.
Your described situation makes perfect sense for him to do what you did, but the ingame text does not reflect it in this particular case.
"Dunno, was fun" is totally different to "I can't stand these greedy IMG fools! Thats what they get for not playing along with my demands!"
Put more effort into the roleplay and nobody gets the feeling that you just do it "because I can".
I am happy to see that you have a clear vision of your character and know exactly how he would react to things.
Thats good. So simply share it with the others. Make it clear for them.
You know why your character does things but the others don't. Help them to understand your cause and share the fun.
This is just a warning because this case is borderline. We have the feeling that this did not happen to simply annoy another player, but it was close to it with the presented RP.
Like I said, he didn't stick around to hear the rest.
I just had a couple of those FBG folk staring at me wide-eyed like they didn't even believe crime was possible...
Maybe next time, people will put a little more effort into actually sticking around to hear what I had to say, as oppose to just running straight to Java to report it and feel smug about themselves.
Little FYI, I started typing my nice message of "Blah-de-Blah I hate IMG sometimes" when the bastard disappeared. I didn't hear a peep out of him.
FBG~Uc.Brunet: hey, stop it
FBG~Uc.Brunet: leave the poor man
FBG~Amandine.Chevrier.: Oui!
Tabula.Rasa: Hehehe..
IMG|Kurt.Steinmetz[M]: // ...!
FBG~Uc.Brunet: Miner... oh, you're gone?
Ragnarock'n'Roll: what Brigands doing here?
FBG~Amandine.Chevrier.: And what was the meaning of destroy the ore that the miner took time to mine?
Tabula.Rasa: Dunno, was fun
Tabula.Rasa: Hehehe...
And when I'm about to explain my true reasoning, and the IMG is nowhere to be seen.
Magic that, I bet his fingertips were just tingling with the anticipation of writing out that report... He could have just asked, or maybe actually stuck around for the RP.
Be assured, that I, being the miner, did not post this, though I saw this as just pure annoyance for the sake of annoyance, without any roleplay backing it up (and probably would have posted it, if I was in a worse mood that time). And those FBG folks pirated me BEFORE you arrived, so THEY know what crime can be.
And I left, because I had to go, RL things, nothing you will have to know about, but still important enough to not stick around any longer, since you blew my ore up anyway. And I was pissed, yes. Because everyone seems to like playing the "space-bastard". But luckily that opinion has been changed later, when I had some funny RP around there too.
RP first, then start your actions. Might save some money eventually. I felt like it was some, excuse me, lulwut, who just decided, "Hey let's annoy that miner folk by making all his hard work disappear into nothing!" - I know you can do better than that.
Yes, I could've said, I have to go, I only told the outcast. Would've been better to tell everyone.
-- As being involved in the incident, I think I may post here. If not, I still think it was necessary.

Congratulations Smokey, we have got a winner!
+30 million credits to the fund of space-orphans (-30 million to your account Smokey)
You should know better since you are A: not new
and B: got warned for forum misbehavior recently
If anyone else wants to spend his money this way, feel free to post in the sanction topics you are not directly involved in.
I think in future, if the Admins are gonna warn someone for something, they can at least tell them what it is they're being warned for. Just a little feedback.
Especially in the event of utter bullcrap like this.
Suck it up. I'm not going to change the way I roleplay cause it doesn't suit your fancy view of how you think I should roleplay.
